RE: Steem needs proper Marketing Plan and Strategies....

in #dtube5 years ago

The "problem" with Steemit is three-fold. First, it's blockchain-based which is difficult for the average person to understand. Secondly, people become intrigued by the idea that they can make money for posting, only to find out that it's not very easy to actually make money on Steemit. Third, if someone does come here and make money easily, they usually have no idea how to use or withdraw their funds, which can require additional accounts on other platforms, and become a lengthy and complicated process.

With all that said, Steemit is definitely in need of some quality marketing. I too am a marketer, but I'm not sure that that steemit has a dedicated role within the company to act as a full-time marketing person. I doubt it.

Some good marketing could make a big difference, however, it's important that people are drawn in for the right reasons. Everyday we see ultra-low-quality content published here, from people who would otherwise not be writing or posting anything anywhere. This is because they think they're going to make easy money. At the same, people who produce great content should know they can get paid for it. So how do you market Steemit properly to attract good content creators while avoiding an influx of garbage? Complicated...

One method would be to target bloggers and nothing more. Promote Steemit to writer's groups, blogging groups, authors, etc. and avoid the wrong targets. There's a large demographic of high-quality content creators who have no idea about Steemit, they just need to be reached so they can come and see what it has to offer. Asking the average person to join Steemit is not as beneficial in the long-run.

Another issue is proper SEO because Steemit articles literally never appear in google searches unless you're specifically searching using the keyword "steemit". I could write an excellent article here about a subject and it has literally no chance of ranking whatsoever, because the platform itself is not setup to be search engine friendly. If it were, the general public would be seeing results from Steemit articles in their searches, which would ultimately lead to long-term growth.

There's a lot that can be discussed, and a lot of improvements that could be made to dramatically increase Steemit's growth.
