Durbar highschool is located in Ratnapark near to Ranipokhari in Kathmandu. It was established in 1892 B.S. in Rana period, The Rana was very cruel king. He provided an opportunity for getting an education for children of their relatives. The Durbar Highschool was opened by Jung Bahadur Rana.

They did not provide the opportunity for poor people. That time there were not many school and college. Jung Bahadur Rana could not speak English and he was embarrassed and decided to teach his children English and also speak Nepali language.
