The average price of a meal

The average price of a meal is 20k~25k dong which is $0.80~$1.00 USD. Today I ordered this meal called ComTam. It is simply white rice, bbq pork ribs, vegetables (carrot, cucumber, and spinach) and a fried egg on top. The amount was so big. I got completely stuffed halfway through the meal, which was about $0.50 cents worth of food. In korea, this is absolutely unthinkable prices. The same amount of food would have cost over $10 US dollars in Korea. How much would it have been in America? I do not know. A huge plate of rice and stuff? If 1 person eats $3 of food a day x 4 people, we're looking at spending $12 of food a day, $15 max for the whole family. 15 x 31 days is $465 usd a month on food.
