THE POT OF SALVATION HAS BEEN SERVED THROUGH THE RESURRECTION
The solemnization of the Catholic liturgy on the Easter vigil night is one that is unique and enriching. The journey from darkness into the light of Jesus Christ, made possible through His vicarious resurrection and victory over the brazen powers of death.
On Thursday, we commemorated the ceremony of last super of Jesus with his disciples, which saw his betrayal and arrest. As a result of it, the whole church was thrown into turmoil and confusion as to how the King, who has been promised to the people of God could be arrested and prosecuted. Also on the following day, Friday, Jesus was crucified and buried. There has been fear all over the Christendom, the Master is gone, he has been killed; every last of the disciples went into hiding. A great silence and a thick darkness hovers around.
However, last night's liturgy as usual, started with the ceremony of the light. The disciples, as well as all Christians; still afraid and in hiding. While contemplating on what next to do in order not to fell by the same sword that slain their master, came together on Saturday night when the light of Christ charged in with the resurection power and dispelled the forces of darkness to instill courage in them.
It was an interesting ceremony and i was thrilled by the view of lighted candles amidst the darkenss that covered. I couldnt help but take a shot.
Yes, you have heard the announcement made severally: on radio, television channels, in your respective churches, from road side preachers etc. The news of the salvation of Christ spreads like a wild fire, throughout the entire humanity that no one can possibly claim ignorance of it. The Big question now is, "where am i in the journey towards the refectory, to partake in this free Dinner that has been served for all??"
To answer the invitation to this sumptuous Dinner, we have to accept the salvation call as an individual not as a group. To do this, we should make every effort to cancel every other invitation that collides with our salvific call: be it call to sin, call to pursuit of mundane things, pride, self indulgence and greed. We should embrace the word of God and His promises of supernatural blessings as stated in the Gospel. Pave way for the will of God to subdue and conquer our own will — only then, can we be made worthy to join the table of banquet, where our salvation is served without reserve.
