Awesome post! Yes, it's the school system, the media, TV 'programming' etc. etc.
The main issue is that people somehow know and see what happened in our history, but because some of it was so dreadful, they somehow now believe that in our modern 'civilized' world, it will never happen again. They're wrong. It is happening again, but now they're more sneaky about it while at the same time rubbing it in our faces all the time.

the people in power know exactly what humanity's weaknesses are. One of those weaknesses is the tendency to pass responsibility to others. Most people would much rather pass on responsibility and be lead by people they think will have all the answers. What we need is a mass awakening to the fact that we are ALL responsible on a personal level and should take that responsibility with both hands and own it. That's when the state and church will become powerless.
