The Ugly Side of Saving Money: When Dumping Shit Willy-Nilly is OK...?

in #ecotrain6 years ago

Photography is an art form I really love but don’t do enough of. Once again, Steemit motivated me...

Lets see if I can do the whole week taking photos for the contest, curated and sponsored by @juliank. I will use #ProjectFollowThrough to keep me moving on this one!

My lovely neighbor has been dumping all sorts of lovely construction debris on his property!

I am not the type to tell on a neighbor... nor do I want anyone to have the hands of the law grop them but you see this kind of shit could bring me very close to calling some government agency.

I did call the town, however I didn't point a finger towards anyone. I called to find out how illegal this sort of dumping was. The wood and all the brush material is fine but the concrete, the asphalt and construction garbage is supposed to be dumped in proper sorting stations around town.

What bothers me is the asphalt and the random bits of fiberglass, plastic and general construcion material found in houses... and than the thought of what I don't see being dumped and burried! And we share a pond that is bellow his dumping site. I'm worried it's being contaminated.

I don't know what to do about it, but I called the neighbor the other day to warn him about someone frantically dumping garbage on his property, in a hurry like they didn't want to get caught. He said they were his employees but acted as if he didn't know what they were dumping.

I don't think it's ignorance, I think he knows it pollutes the land and he really loves the forest and all so it must be the power of money that drives him to doing this.

It's sad but I will keep trying to talk some sense into him instead of having the authorities give him hell. We aren't living entirely legally ourselves on the homestead either. In the eyes of the state, composting our black gold is kind of frowned upon!!!

We've got to play this thing wisely!

QUOTE OF THE MONTH: @Flemingfarm
If you don't like your surroundings, change them
If you don't like your situation, change it.
If you don't like your decisions, make different ones.
All of this leads to the life that YOU want to lead, not the one others want you to lead.

Life is like chess, always try and think at least 5 moves ahead, and if you can see the dead ends you can avoid them.

Yeah, that's a tough situation... freedom is freedom, but polluting an area that abuts to yours and with a water source around too? Ugh... just a messy situation. Good luck!!!

Thanks, I'm still not sure what to do... he wants to sell his property maybe I'll have some friends who want it and we can clean it up

Short of helping the guy clean up his mess not many good options. Good luck.

btw Day 5 :)

Yeah true, I could do that... except I think he's dumping because he doesn't want to pay for it at the actual Dump.

sadly selfish neighbours are always a very tricky situation

I'm trying to get some friends to purchase his property!!!
