Earth Rangers of the SASH-Program visit the St. Dominic Monastery to plant trees and learn about the role of christianity in environmental protection
Earth Rangers at the St. Dominic Monastery
Today was a real exciting day for the Earth Rangers of the Steemit Action Summer Holiday program as they visited the St. Dominic Monastery in Bambui, Tubah Sub Division to plant trees and learn about the role of christianity in environmental protection as well as learn more about the spiritual and social life of Nuns of St. Dominic Monastery
The outing today can be summarized as "solemn environmental activity."
As early as 09:00AM the Earth Rangers were already ready at Reforestation Task Force (RETAFO) to pick up the trees they were going to plant at the monastery.
At 10:00AM, the 13 Earth Rangers and 7 Environmental Activists arrived the monastery and were warmly welcomed by the Nuns of the Monastery.
RETAFO Tree Nursery site
We were welcomed by the Nuns of the St. Dominic Monastery after which we had a brief presentation about the Monastery. The word of welcome was followed by a family picture and then a presentation of the trees we brought for planting by the Coordinator of RETAFO.

The Executive Director of The Greens drilled the Earth Rangers on how to plant trees as well as engaged them in the planting of their trees. It was interesting seeing how these young Earth Rangers got their hands dirty in a bid to plant trees to clean up our pollution.
Supervised by the Nuns, every Earth Ranger planted 02 trees in the St. Dominic Monastery today and it was such an awesome initiative.

Stay tuned to green updates from the SASH-Program as we shall share pictures of our different Earth Rangers planting trees and the type of trees they were planting at the St. Dominic Monastery.
Touring St. Dominic Monastery
Tree planting was followed by a spiritual, educative and entertaining tour around the Monastery. First, the team visited the Statue of St. Dominic where they were educated on the life and christian teachings of St Dominic
They also visited the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary and then then statue of Jesus' crucifixion where they learned about the life of the Mother of Jesus and how they can live better lives by following the way of Jesus.
The Earth Rangers visited the Monastery organic farms where they had enough guavas to eat as well as had the opportunity to visit their biogas plant and cattle ranch. Besides touring, the Monastery, the team had the chance to visit the Chapel and join the Nuns in prayers.
At 01:00PM, the Nuns the Earth Rangers and entire team were offered lunch and while we enjoyed the good food that was given to us, the Nuns also gave us some wonderful gifts to take home as a reminder.
Today, we recorded a handful of environmental and spiritual achievements. The Earth Rangers had the opportunity to plant trees, have fun, learn about the life of Nuns and St. Dominic, as well as learn about the role of christianity in environmentalism.
Tomorrow we visit the Nkwen Fon's palace to plant trees and learn about the role of culture in environmental protection.
