Is EcoDesigns capable of empowering young girls via textile recycling and fashion designing?

In The Greens weekly meeting of Tuesday 10th July 2018, volunteers sought to answer the question “Is EcoDesigns capable of empowering young girls via textile recycling and fashion designing?
Beginning at 11:00AM at EcoDesigns, the meeting started with 14 members comprising of volunteers of The Greens, trainees of The Greens EcoDesigns workshop and Director of Training of EcoDesigns, Fon Irene who chaired the meeting.

Starting with a word of welcome from *Fon Irene, Director of Training of #EcoDesigns the meeting then proceeded with deliberations on the question “Is EcoDesigns capable of empowering young girls via textile recycling and fashion designing? “
After a 30 minutes discussion, it was agreed by all that from the EcoDesigns records as well as reviews from the EcoDesigns Fashion show, EcoDesigns is capable of empowering young girls to become economically viable and top class social entrepreneurs who are capable of making profits while helping people and the planet.

Some strong points raised to affirm the fact that EcoDesigns can train and empower young girls to become social entrepreneurs (Wastepreneurs) include;

• EcoDesigns currently has 11 trainees who are benefiting from the free training in textile recycling and fashion designing
• EcoDesigns currently has good machines and awesome trainers who are qualified to educate and empower their trainees to become top class social entrepreneurs who are capable of making profits while helping people and the planet
• EcoDesigns will graduate her first trainee in August 2018 and 02 Trainees in December 2018.
• EcoDesigns is upcycling 500 kgs of textile waste every month to produce magnificent low cost products such as pillows, pieces dresses, etc
• EcoDesigns is getting more new clients and commands for her products and services as well as 03 students from the University of Bamenda have applied to do internship at EcoDesigns

Yes, EcoDesigns can do it!

After the deliberations, trainees from EcoDesigns then presented their new designs of the week since they were tasked by the training director to creative and make some new designs.

Portia is one of the new trainees of EcoDesigns

Franca is one of the senior trainees of EcoDesigns who will be graduating in December 2018

Thelma is a junior trainee at EcoDesigns

Eva is a new trainee at EcoDesigns

The design presentations were followed by a presentation from Mr. Green on safety tips to stay out of trouble and stay alive during this period of crisis (Anglophone crisis) in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon
