MiniE 2.001: Passive elements: Introduction // Learn: Basic electronics.

Recapitulation of the previous MiniE

Greetings, in the previous MiniE: we study the law of ohm and apply it to a simple circuit, from this we can summarize that: When applying a voltage on a resistance, in a closed circuit, it will travel a current through this resistance, which it will heat it, thus generating heat potency.

If you have not already read it, I invite you to read it, I assure you that you will find it very useful:

Introduction to passive elements.

We know, not in detail, about the voltage and current, these are physical phenomena that are generally supplied by sources. Electrical sources are considered active elements, as they are capable of generating a voltage or a current at their ends. Then: What do resistors in a circuit represent?

They are considered passive elements, because they need an external electrical excitation to fulfill their function.

Are there other passive elements?

Yes, there are 3 in total:

  1. The resistance.

  2. The capacitor or capacitance.

  3. The coil or inductance.

What is the difference between them?

Many aspects, mainly its operation and the effects that can cause when apply an electric voltage or current in them, both DC and AC.

I do not want to overwhelm them with too much theory, so in the next publications, I will report individually on each one. I just wanted to give you a quick introduction to get into the subject.
