Have we lost our children or our children have lost us?

in #education6 years ago

Yesterday I saw a video of two school girls beating a female teacher for confiscating a phone, because the other girl was playing music and singing during class. They kicked her to the ground and hurled insults demanding that she give them back the phone.

This really brought tears to my eyes, I questioned myself as a parent if I am doing enough to teach my children respect, Especially respecting their elders. If a child can beat a teacher like that, it is possible for them to beat their own parents.

Today I urge all parents to please be present in their children's lives. Giving them food shelter and sending them to school is not enough. we have to be there for them by all means, teach them how to behave, teach them respect, teach them how to treat each other, above all we have to show them love. Without love these kids are lost.
Let them know that it all starts with them, you cannot love anybody else if you don't love yourself. Teach them self worth so that they can value themselves and then others. Teach them that you don't get respect but you earn it.

It all starts at home and it starts at an early age, when their brains are still absorbing everything, while they are modelling the behaviour they see around them. Let us be good role models to our children. it's very painful to see children hitting their parents, teachers and assaulting other children physically and sexually.

It might not be your child today, but who knows what tomorrow holds. Start today to instill moral values and good behaviour, starts with the little things...let us not lose our children to the world, let us love them enough to show them the right way!!!!!!
