Functional diversity

First of all we must understand that it is functional diversity, and well people who have a functional diversity, have different capabilities to other people. His disability allows different functions to be performed by other human beings, which require specific or unique needs to perform an action.
We can explain from examples the different functions that an individual has. A person deaf through signs can communicate, on the other hand a hearing person communicates by the oral language, now both have different functions but basically use it to communicate. Another example to explain Functional Diversity: a person with a spinal cord injury who uses wheelchairs to move around and a person without a spinal cord injury uses their feet to move, they have different functions but whose goal they fulfill, which is to move on their own.
According to Corominas A. (2010) about Functional diversity can become the last or definitive concept that destigmatizes and "normalizes" the existence of variations in the functions of people that make them different from the average, correction or commonly accepted according to the consensus established by each social group at each stage of its history (p.03). This means that Functional Diversity is predestined to be accepted before social groups, since our functions vary and makes them differences.
As citizens we must take care of our language when talking about disability, in our society we have already avoided the use of informal terms such as "delayed" or "invalid" to describe someone with a disability, we must understand that all people are equal, but that we use different functions to execute an action.
Deepening a little more about the problem of the adjectival of informal terms and creating new words to designate the disability with correct language, we must focus a little beyond the problem about disability in society, we know that there is such a term to just as there are men and women, people of color etc. The problem is not in diversity but in the unequal evaluation that comes before society about difference. To change this idea in society, we must handle information well, be aware and above all, respect for difference. Since we are all unique human beings, capable of doing great things if we propose it.
