You are new to Steem and have no clue what everyone is talking about leaving you feeling confused and frustrated. Allow us to help you learn about some of the jargon used here so you can begin to understand the language of the Steemiverse.

QUESTION: What are good tags to use in my posts?

@thekittygirl says, "The first tag can never be changed, so choose it carefully! Tags that mention the subject of the post are probably best for the first tag — travel, gardening, crypto, food, etc.

For posts that are in Spanish, I wouldn't hesitate to use #spanish as a tag (although #english is NOT necessary for any post in English). Posts in German can be tagged #deutch, and so forth.

After that, consider tagging any communities to which you belong such as #steemph for those who live in Philippines and #wafrica for folks in West Africa; there may, or may not, be a community for your geographical area. There are also many communities on Discord which you can tag if you are in those communities (#steemitmamas, #pifc, and others).

Other good tags would include side-chains, which will give your post more exposure, such as #palnet, #mediaofficials and #neoxianag, all of which will accept content on any subject. IF your post relates to investing, you can use #steemleo, but don't use that tag for anything except investing! IF your post is of a creative nature (art, music, sculpting, dance, poetry, writing, etc.), you can use the #creativecoin tag, but only if the post is of a creative nature! For any post that talks about the things that define who you are, you can always use #innerblocks as a tag.

This is duch great info! You might want to add to this post that Steemit only allows 5tags, but you can add more if you post, or edit your post, from Busy.org. Actifit also allows more than five tags and you can edit your Actifit posts and tags at Actifit.io.

Thank you so much for the information.

The first tag is steem or steemit depends what endpoint we use. the example I use steempeak its allow you to tag a maximum of 10 tags so my first tag is base on what content I write fit on my blog.

Tagging can be so confusing, even to someone who has been here for a while. Haha. A good point to have made though! I know I was stunned when given the opportunity to use ten tags!
Ren

Ren Everyone knows about tagging but we are really careful using another tag that may cause abuse and flags.

Ang that is the important part!!!!
