Virtual Vaginas! Become a master of the elusive female orgasm

in #education6 years ago

Welcome the new sexual education community #STEEMySex with a series that will provide a member’s preview of an extremely valuable trove of information for men and women alike!

"You should have a new email"

...his text message read. My partner had struck with a "ninja gift", a term coined for our practices of finding products and experiences to share with the other not because of a date on the calendar (we actually don't really celebrate holidays), but because we find something that is so him/us. I opened Gmail and sure enough, "Your OMGYES Gift Certificate" shone white almost at the top of the list (I get it Groupon, you have deals in my area).

OMGYES.com is a membership-based resource created for the exploration of women’s pleasure. A passionate project that has teamed up with the Kinsey Institute at Indiana University, OMGYES is a multimedia experience that utilizes the personal experiences of female volunteers of different ages (from 18 to 95!) to discuss general patterns used to achieve the delicious prize in sexual activity, the orgasm. Due to its development into a website, you can pull up their media library on any phone, computer or tablet, no downloading necessary (although some privacy and headphones may be advised, unless sharing with a partner).

The website currently offers a one-time purchase of membership allows for permanent access to viewing of the library, currently displaying its first season of content. 62 videos are collected into 12 episodes, with each episode naming techniques discovered in patterns described by personal accounts by 2,000+ female participants. On top of this, touchable videos allow the user the chance to try out the techniques on renderings of the guide’s vulva and gives feedback that reinforces the lesson. As a female supporter and consumer, I found this fantastic mix of the familiar and new paths to the summit filled with “a-ha!” moments that inspired my own further research... for, ya know, science.

OMGYES boasts glowing reviews from some slightly bigger names than @thedreamsteem, too! Emma Watson, actor and respected women’s rights advocate gushed,

“I wish it had been around longer. Definitely check it out.”

A reviewer from The Guardian comments of a newer pleasure-seeker’s transformation;

”…you soon realise that this only feels strange because we are so unused to seeing women talking frankly and naturally about their desires and bodies.”

Men’s magazine GQ reported on the website’s offerings back in 2006,

”Remarkable and useful…marvelously in-depth… cheerily NSFW.”

Hey, Wait. Did you say 2006?

Yes, OMGYES has been around for over 10 years. So why are a lot of us hearing about it for the first time? Society is still too bashful to talk about “private parts”. In the GQ article, co-founder Rob Perkins revealed the limitations to introducing this project to would-be proficient pussycat tamers;

“Anything that has to do with women's sexual pleasure—even using the word "clitoris" or the word "orgasm"—is blocked in places like the App Store and the Google Play Store. Twitter blocked our ability to promote tweets, because they consider it indecent. Facebook, too. So we're still sort of in the Stone Age, where women's pleasure can't be talked about too specifically or else it's worthy of getting bleeped out.”

I plan on utilizing the STEEM blockchain to share accurate information about safe sexual exploration, both solo and with a buddy, providing a special emphasis on topics that relate to sexual and reproductive health of women and the people that love them. As @connecteconomy discussed in a recent article with a reporter for VICE magazine, the crypto space remains predominantly male. But mainstream adoption is still pending, and the percentages of male/female participation in blockchain communities should be changing with the next couple of waves. Steemit can end the chain of censorship that has been choking out resources that provide scientifically-accurate information regarding sexual and reproductive health to women, as well as support the general adoption of a sex-positive attitude as a global population. 380 Million years of evolution went into our current (s)explorations, let’s enjoy the fruits of a lot of fun labor!

I plan to continue this series by providing a brief member preview of each episode to share additional information about how you can enjoy or give the pleasure to another, personal experience anecdotes, further resources that I am able to dig up regarding the 12 techniques. OMGYES reports that a pledge of support not only gets you access to the account, but will be used to create more content, with potential topics including oral sex (my favorite!) and anal stimulation. It is unclear when we can expect this content, however #STEEMySex will continue to produce quality sexual education information for a healthier, sex-positive community vision. There is a place in this community for all with a respectful viewpoint that does not promote any shaming or judgement and no questions will be considered "bad" and will be answered with acceptance and supported with best evidence.

Did you check out OMGYES? Please share your thoughts and ask any questions below, and if you believe that others could benefit from this information, please consider resteeming for greater awareness of the project.

Thanks for reading! And remember, the steem work makes the dream work ;*

OMGYes is an amazing resource for all. It's a shame it's subscription only, I think that makes it pretty exclusive, which this sort of information shouldn't be. But it's awesome that it exists nonetheless. As someone from the UK where state sexual education has traditionally been inadequate or non-existent, I wish there were more resources like that being used more openly in the public domain, and especially more available to young people - many of whom essentially only have porn to learn from

With careful consideration to not give away content that does not belong to me (although those virtual simulations have to be experienced to really appreciate how much work went into creating them), I will be sharing the actual techniques described and utilizing any other resources that have worked toward addressing this topic. I hope that you will return to check out my summaries as well as share any topics that you would be interested in hearing about through a scientific, and not entertainment, filter. Thanks!

Thanks so much @thedreamsteem for sharing this information - women all around the world need this! And so glad you've joined steemsugars so I can be reminded to find your posts!

Thanks for stopping by, @natureofbeing! The #steemsugars community has already done such fantastic work to lay the foundation for a global female community, I only hope that I can achieve my goal of providing reliable, evidence-based education for not only women, but the men that love them too! I thought OMGYES would be an ideal topic to introduce my mini community, as it is a project that encourages healthy communication between women and our sexual partners to remove the stigma of seeking better sexual understanding. Hope you find some valuable information in my contributions!

This is a fantastic topic, and I agree with @natureofbeing and @alice-is that it's an extremely important and something the world needs. Thank you for creating this series!

Thanks! Looking forward to helping spread way underutilized information!

Very needed and such shame that all of this seems to be such a tabu. I can't really understand why. Great mission and idea, the information is most needed all around this world.

I must agree that it's time to rise above this taboo state that sexuality is locked in. I decided a basic anatomy post will come before my first OMGYES chapter because I want to be accessible to women and men of all familiarity...we need to bring our global society to better sexual understanding. It's part of our well-being. I am very passionate about sharing reliable information about contraception, disease prevention, while also sharing some of the info about how women can enjoy those orgasms that evolution stole from us ;) or how to do the same for your partner...I want everyone participating!

I have already had such wonderful support from some steemsugars, I appreciate the read and welcome any topic suggestions!

Just catching up to your posts while on discord vacation lol! I'm excited to read more. :D

Thanks for your support! I am finishing up my first piece on "signaling", the way partners communicate how they are being pleasured. The best lover is still not a mind reader. Even as someone who teaches people communication skills for a career, issues came up from ambiguity "in the bedroom". Excited to hear what the community has to say!

Ps did you mark this nsfw or did it happen on its own?

I personally marked it, given the certain nudity this series will contain. I have played with the idea of making a "clean" version of the series that would not include visuals, but among potential abuse of rewards for very similar content, it would just make the teaching more...muddy. I am hoping that people will being willing to view the explicit content if they are able to view it on their terms, so I have been doing my best to preface it with a couple of posts but hopefully the content will be seen as valuable to share with other communities, and not minimized to "contains nudity".
