King Tut, Treasures of The Golden Pharaoh

in #educational6 years ago (edited)

On April 18th, 2018 I was fortunate enough to have been brought to the California Science Center by my friend Thomas, to see the KING TUT: TREASURES OF THE GOLDEN PHARAOH exhibit. It was great no AWESOME. It amazed me to see objects older than most man-made things here on earth sitting right in front of me in almost perfect condition untouched throughout time.

I took some photos and I thought that I would share them here with steemit community. All photos are original, taken by yours truly @davidisfedup. I'm not the best person at resizing images for formatting posts so please forgive me if the post looks weird or like my friend here ---->💩 I'm trying to learn. Anyway, ENJOY.

A child only eight years of age, ascends to the throne of Egypt soon after his father is ousted for creating chaos within the Egyptian society by changing religious belief system from a Polytheism ( many gods ) belief system to a Monotheistic ( one god ) belief system. The name, given to the child at birth was Tutankhaten and its literal translation "The Living Image of Aten", ( the Disk God ). Soon after taking power his advisors had him change his name to Tutankhamun as we know it today which translates to "The Living Image of Amun" ( the King of Gods ).

Along with his name change, Tutankhamen destroyed the capital of Armana which his father built and reinstated old laws & beliefs. Sounds like a lot for a child to accomplish, right? Actually, the King since only a child at the time was more of what you would call a "Figure-Head". The two men running things behind the King were his advisors Ay & General Horemheb

Why is Tutankhamun So Famous?

Honestly, the only reason Tutankhamun is so famous is that his tomb was found almost completely intact. Most if all of the artifacts still lay in the same spot they were placed over 3,000 years ago.
Unfortunately not much is known about Tutankhamun, his predecessors Ay & Horemheb both tried to hide his existence from the history books. Tutankhamun isn't even mentioned in the Abydos King list, which lists all the legitimate Kings of Egypt.

Here a couple of photos of some artifacts I liked, the photo to the left is a ceremonial shield, this was never used in battle. In fact, up until recently, researchers believed the King was to sickly to have been in battle, but new evidence is telling a different story.

If you would like to see more photos of artifacts of the Boy King you can view them at the Fed Up So Rise Up Facebook page.

An Educational Video I Enjoyed, I Hope You Do Too
