Benih Bawang Merah Aceh
Varietas benih untuk budidaya bawang merah cukup banyak. Ada benih lokal hingga benih hibrida impor dan ada juga yang dari biji, tetapi kita selaku petani Aceh menggunakan umbi sebagai benih.
Benih bawang merah yang baik berasal dari umbi yang dipanen tua U 80 hari. Biasa sentral benih bawang merah Aceh diwilayah Sigli dan Pidie. Benih Bawang merah dipilih dengan bentuk yang bagus, tidak cacat, berwarna merah tua mengkilap.
Kebutuhan benih untuk budidaya bawang werah tergantung dengan varietas, ukuran benih dan jarak tanam. Untuk jarak tanam 15×15 dengan bobot umbi 5 gram dibutuhkan sekitar 2,2 ton benih per hektar. Bila bobot umbi lebih kecil, kebutuhan umbi per hektarnya lebih sedikit lagi.
