Hand tremor in the elderly (part 2)

Handy shaking is common in over 80s, with about 10-20% of the population suffering from this disease. Up to half the cases have a family history, while the remainder is unclear. These types of tremors respond well to treatment with beta blockers or gabapentin, primidone but these are non-permanent treatments. Run is a common type of tremor in the elderly.

  • Run from Parkinson's disease: Parkinson's disease is caused by deficiency of dopamine intermediates in the central nervous system. We can easily recognize the disease by some signs such as: stiffness, difficulty moving, hand rotation, not holding position. The patient has a jerky appearance and rigid characteristics. The most distinctive feature is tremor due to Parkinson's appearing even at rest. So we can see that the patient's hands trembling even when sitting talking. Initially, the shark is sporadic, but later on, the episodes are more rapid and we have the impression that the patient is constantly shaking.

People with Parkinson's may have memory impairment and hallucinations. The treatment was successful when the dopamine agonists appeared. However, it should be noted that during treatment because of psychiatric disorders or extrinsic effects of these drugs.

Run due to impaired brain function: Run in this case is usually due to decreased brain function causing motor dysfunction. Run occurs when the elderly focus, pay attention to the shivering. Related to this condition is the phenomenon of cerebral atherosclerosis with severe cerebral haemorrhage. It can also be seen in cases of alcoholism, over-consumption of phenytoin, paroxysmal or secondary bacterial atrophy.
