Electroneum v2.1 Fork will reintroducing ASIC miners to the electroneum network
Electroneum will be undergoing urgent fork at block 324500 on the 5th of July 2018 . Just 1 month after the fork for ASIC resistance the electroneum team decided to revert their decision and reintroduce ASIC miners to the network.

The major reason their decision was that they never got back the number of GPU miners that they needed to ensure that the network runs smoothly and has a stable block emission. Furthermore a new phenomenon emerged where a number of users are mining Electroneum in waves, which causes the network to be unstable.
Further reasons they gave are that they won't be able to keep the Electroneum network resistant for long due to new emerging technology's in the ASIC market. Additionally ASICS cost considerably less to run than a GPU rig and use a fraction of the electricity. Thats why the Electroneum team is going to encourage more ASIC ownership.
