Japanese carp. Oil painting on a round canvas

in #elegance6 years ago

Hello, Steemit!)

Today I will show you a small picture made with oil paints on a round canvas. Previously, I had one drawing on this canvas, which eventually got terribly unpleasant for me, so I covered the canvas with acrylic soil over the image and decided to paint another picture on it.
The choice fell on my favorite topic «fish». I put on a picture a Japanese koi carps.

First, I drew the contours of the drawing with a pencil.

I began to paint with the background - from the pebbles at the bottom of the pond. Mixed Indian yellow paint with cobalt blue and with translucent strokes gave the pebbles a rounded shape.

.

With green grass color painted over the leaves of water lilies.

With the main colors by translucent stroke I painted over the fish.
Then left the picture to dry for a day.

When the picture has dried, i proceeded to deepening the shadows and giving the picture a contrast. I tinted dammar varnish with blue cobalt and translucently painted shadows on the stones.
Then gave the lily leaves the shape - light, bulging places painted over with a mixture of green and yellow colors, dark ones with an emerald color.

Then began to detail the fish. Prescribed the first fish in detail. I tried to paint with specks, imitating scales.

In the same way, I prescribed the second fish in detail.

At the final stage I finished the third fish, in some places I emphasized small details in the picture, shadows. I drew air bubbles on water. The picture is ready.

Thank you for attention!

What a lovely drawing, @kleonella! The fishes are very cute... but my favourite part is that pirate boat! Amazing! :-D

thank you very much)

I very like this detailed work!

thank you very much)

Your carps are happily swimming in the canvas :) I like that you added some green color in there. It creates a nice contrast. The progress photos are great!

thank you very much)

This is wonderful, @kleonella. I like koi, too. They seem very aware and responsive to their surroundings, in and out of the water. A very lively fish, and also vibrantly colored, so perfect for a painting. I have to agree with another person who commented—the sail boat on the rock is awesome in and of itself.

The rocks around the canvas are nice touch, too.

You said there was something else on the canvas before you started to paint this one. That's great that you were able to reuse it. Do you mind saying what it was that was so unpleasant about the drawing you previously had there?

thank you very much for your comment. Earlier on the canvas was my author's picture, but then I really disliked it

Hey, @kleonella.

Well, I'd say that turned out great, too, but ultimately, you must be happy with what you create. The carp are amazing, so hopefully they will make you happy for a long time. And if not, well, there really isn't any reason why you can't keep reusing canvas for as long as you can.
