Behind the curve - A documentary about flat earth

in #en5 years ago (edited)

Hello

I just watched a flat earth documentary, and my initial reaction was that I was in awe. Something just did not feel right to me. After a few minutes, I came to the realization that humans can at times be very stupid, and actually believe in the following:

The earth is flat, and NASA has indoctrinated us with this concept to inject their vaccines into children and disprove the existence of dinosaurs.

I had haven't been posting on Steemit recently, but this documentary was so stupid and unbelievable that I had to come here to comment, I just couldn't leave it alone. So here we go!

What the hell is this documentary?

This documentary goes into great detail regarding the life of a gentleman named Mark Sargent, who was one of the founders of the Flat Earth theory as well as one of the biggest disseminators of information on the subject.

He presents several arguments, such as the absence of flights over a certain area. In the following scene an astrophysicist refutes it by presenting flight radar which shows planes passing by in the same area.

A woman named Patricia Steere is also featured, who is one of the greatest interviewers of Flat Earthers.

In some scenes it is possible to observe outright deceit by the presenters. For example, during a visit to the Oregon Aerospace Museum, while demonstrating a simulator named Orion, the presenter presses a START button on the SCREEN of the simulator, and says that it is broken. Two seconds after that, the cameramen turns the camera to a GIGANTIC GREEN BUTTON labelled START.

During a SOLAR ECLIPSE, the presenter says that the Flat Earth theory is totally plausible, since the sun "eclipses itself", in addition to showing a meteorological balloon which depicts the obvious curvature of the Earth, but of course, only for a few seconds.

In one particular scene, they buy a $20,000 gyroscope to calculate out the Earth's spin, and guess what? They discovered that the earth was spinning. After several tests, the result is the same. His expression is hilarious.

In addition, they do a test with an ultra-potent laser that ends up not working, but in an obviously fraudulent way.

Near the end of the documentary, they conducted an experiment so fake, it made my heart ache. They placed three timbers, 17 feet apart, and a light, pointed at the hole. According to them, in a space of 74 ft there would be a gigantic curvature. All they ended up discovering was that the space was too small for this, but to prove their theory, the Earth was flat and that test results were irrefutable (74 FT)

17 ft = 5.84 meters
74 ft = 22.5 meters

I'll tell you one thing...

Clearly it's all for money. In one part of the documentary they show that VIP tickets for the event cost around $249, and had run out. In addition to the normal tickets that cost $149. In addition, t-shirt sales make the project even more lucrative.

And a special thanks to @nw0 who help me with this text on PAL discord! Thank you so much.

I'll leave a screenshot of the best experiment ever conducted, which made me flat earther:
