how much labor and material needs for brick work?

in #engineering8 years ago
Greetings, how are you steemit friends? Wish you good health always. In keeping with my previous discussion of how much labor and materials in mountain foundation work and sloof reinforced concrete work, today I will discuss the need for labor and materials to create brick walls and wall plastering. may be useful.

As we know the wall is a barrier that serves to protect an area, the function of the wall is divided into two, namely as partitions and structural walls.

On this occasion we will only exemplify the calculation of brick walls that also function as partitions and supporters of the roof. The walls can be made of various materials such as paper, plywood, gypsum, bricks and so forth.

A wall can be said to be a structural wall if it serves as a roof support and does not use reinforced concrete columns as auxiliary structures, thus purely relying on the construction of brick and cement pairs.

We should know what bricks are before, in general, bricks are one of the wall-making materials and in certain jobs can be foundation.

Bricks made from clay that burned to change color to reddish to brownish, bricks itself is divided into several types, including:

Bricks made of clay with slippery surfaces that have erratic surfaces and erratic colors, this type of brick is called an ordinary brick.

Bricks made of sand and lime.

In general in Indonesia the use of ordinary bricks to be commonly used building materials, the bricks in question are ordinary bricks are printed and burned at high temperatures to obtain a dry brick.

The size of bricks commonly used in Indonesia are:

DescriptionAmount
Length17 - 23 cm
Width7 - 11 cm
Thickness3 - 5 cm

While plastering is a layer to cover the field of buildings to be more robust, leveling the surface of the building and protect the structure of climate climates.

Plastering is divided into several uses depending on the level of flatness at the time of workmanship, the first is the rough plaster is usually used on the work of building structures, half-fine plastering which is often used in the work of the toilet, indoor outdoor indoor field and so forth, fine plastering is used to form walls and floor of the building.

Some requirements that must be fulfilled for stucco work are:

  1. Must have a very flat and upright surface
  2. Has a thickness of 11 - 16 cm
  3. No rupture was found due to plastering.

After we have a little reference to the walls, bricks and plastering then it's time to calculate the need in the installation work of brick and stucco bonds.
The wall we will count has a length of 8.00 m and a height of 3.50 m.

CALCULATION OF VOLUME

a. Brick Walls
Is known:

DescriptionAmount
Length8.00 m
Height3.50 m

Resolution:

DescriptionAmount
Length x Heightm2
8.00 x 3.528.00 m2

So the total wall area is 28.00 m2

b. Plastering
Solution is the same as calculating the wall area only we have to determine how many sides will be in the plaster, if the two sides of the total wall width x 2 sides (exterior and interior), so obtained answer 56.00 m2.

CALCULATION OF LABOR AND MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS

I use the coefficient of technical analysis in accordance with Indonesian National Standard
a. Work of Brick Wall Pairs, ½ bond mixture 1 portland cement: 4 sand pairs
To complete the work 1 m2 pair of brick walls ½ bond mixture 1 portland cement: 4 tide sand required:

DescriptionAmount
Workers0.300 Person per Day
Stonemason0,100 Person per Day
Foreman0.010 Person per Day
Overseer0,015 Person per Day
Bricks70.00 Pieces
Portland Cement11,500 Kg
River sand0.043 m3

To calculate the requirement according to volume mentioned above then we must make multiplication between coefficient with volume

DescriptionInformationAmount
Workers0.300 Person per Day x 28.00 m28,400 Person
Stonemason0,100 Person per Day x 28.00 m22,800 Person
Foreman0.010 Person per Day x 28.00 m20,280 Person
Overseer0,015 Person per Day x 28.00 m20,420 Person
Bricks70.00 pieces x 28.00 m21,960,000 Piece
Portland Cement11,500 Kg x 28.00 m2322,000 Kg
River Sand0.043 m3 x 28.00 m21,204 m3

**Work Plastering, 1 Portland Cement: 4 Rivers Sand, 15 cm thick
To complete the work of 1 m2 pair of brick walls, ½ bond, mixture of 1 portland cement: 4 rivers sand is required :

DescriptionAmount
Workers0.300 Person per Day
Stonemason0.150 Person per Day
Foreman0.015 Person per Day
Overseer0,015 Person per Day
Portland Cement6,240 Kg
Rivers Sand0,024 m3

To calculate the requirement according to volume mentioned above then we must make multiplication between coefficient with volume

DescriptionInformationAmount
Worker0.300 Person per Day x 56.00 m216,800 Person
Stonemason0.150 Person per Day x 56.00 m28,400 Person
Foreman0.015 Person per Day x 56.00 m20.840 Person
Overseer0,015 Person per Day x 56.00 m20.840 Person
Portland Cement6,240 Kg x 56.00 m2349,440 Kg
Rivers Sand0,024 m3 x 56,00 m21,344 m3

CONCLUSION

In accordance with technical analysis of Indonesian National Standard then to finish the wall work with length 8,00 m and height 3,50 m needed

DescriptionAmount
Worker25,200 Person
Stonemason11,200 Person
Foreman1,120 Person
Overseer1,260 Person
Bricks1.950,000 Peice
Portland Cement671,440 Kg
Rivers Sand2,548 m3

After we calculate technically it is expected to work on this wall we can minimize the emergence of factors that can cause losses in the future.
The calculation of labor and material needs in this wall work is only as an example that can be developed in accordance with the development of the times and is expected to young engineers to be more active in developing the knowledge they have.

This is all I can write on this occasion, for all the lack of writing and as a servant of God I apologize., thanks to friends who have visited my blog and provide constructive comments and to all actors "science" who willingly sacrificed for the development of science and knowledge like today.
