Entering Dark Souls

Hello! My name is Solaire de Astoras. Many who have visited my world have found a little warmth in me. Besides, with the passing of the years and my endless search for light, I have gone mad. To think that darkness can completely take over my world has not allowed my body to rest until such a disaster occurs. That's why I'll tell you about Dark Souls. Perhaps you are the one to prevent the darkness from taking over everything.

The First Flame
To understand Dark Souls we must travel back a long time, when there was neither life nor death. This is known as the Grey Age or the Age of the Ancients. The only thing that existed were dragons, rock beings that were in a limbo between existence and non-existence. But then, at some point, in that boring world something very similar to the Big Bang happened. That's when the fire is born. It is said that fire created itself and no one drove its creation. Now with the birth of fire heat and cold, light and darkness, life and death are created.
At that time we humans were not as we know ourselves today; we were hollow beings, with aspects very similar to zombies. Those who ruled the world at that time were called lords, beings with powers and civilizations of their own. And so it was a long time before three lords obtained fragments of the soul, part of that fire that formed life.
One of the fragments was taken by Nito the First of Death. The Witch Izalith took the second soul and the third soul was taken by Gwyn, the Lord of Light. Each of the lords increased their powers, so much so that they were considered gods. But there was a small fragment of soul that was not found by one of the lords. This soul, found by a small hollow being, was the dark soul.

The small gap in accepting dark soul also achieved great power and became the first human being. It is said that his name was Pygmy, or at least that's what the stories tell over the years. The little pygmy, after becoming a human being, kept the fourth fragment of the soul secret and disappeared for a while.
A War Is Unleashed

Meanwhile, on another plane, Gwyn, the Lord of Light, took his place as leader of the lords and declared that the first flame was stronger than the beings that inhabited the surface, the Dragons. Gwyn managed to convince all the lords of his idea to start a war against the dragons to have the conquest of the surface. It is not known exactly what drove him to wage this war, whether it was the lords mistreated by the dragons or whether they feared the power of these creatures.

Then, Gwyn, Nito and the Witch of Izalith came out with their armies to the surface, and together they destroyed the dragons with the help of Seath the Scaled One, a dragon set apart and mistreated by other dragons due to their lack of scales. As revenge for his mistreatment, he revealed the weakness of the dragons in exchange for preserving his life and gaining more power. With this fact an era was brought to an end, the Age of the Ancients, and the Age of Light was begun.

After the war was over and almost all the dragons were destroyed, Gwyn and the other lords celebrated their victory. The lords settled in their new home, "the surface. They began to build palaces and villages under the new King Gwyn, who built his own palace near Anor Londo, which was the capital of the empire. There he spent a thousand years researching the immortal properties of dragon scales. Over time he made progress in his research and was able to become immortal, but he was still not perfect.
Nito, he departed from that civilization created by Gwyn like the witches of Izalith. Later creating his civilization, while this was happening Gwyn's empire prospered on the surface. The lord of light attainment had three sons. The first was exiled his father ordered that all trace of his first son be erased so that all knowledge about his existence would be lost. The second was a little girl, Gwynevere who would become the Queen of sunlight. Finally her youngest son Gwyndolin, who was raised as if she were a woman because of her behaviour, feminine attitudes and a very strange passion for the moon and the mysticism she attributed to magic.
