Aoshima - The island of cats # 3

in #english5 years ago

If you are a cat lover you, ¡should visit this place!

Aoshima is a small island in Japan located in Miyazaki prefecture, this fishing town has less than 20 inhabitants and more than 120 cats

In 1945, Aoshima was home to approximately 900 people. However, the fall of the fishing industry caused the human population to decrease.

On the contrary, the number of cats, who were transferred to the island to end a plague of mice, grew rapidly due to the lack of natural predators. Source

Aoshima is the paradise of cats

There live dozens of cats of all sizes and colors, which are treated as true gods by the inhabitants of the island, who firmly believe that feeding them brings good luck, health and wealth.
