Every human being by the very fact of being born in the world and being part of a certain society has a certain notion of what the family is. You could say that it is not necessary to go to school or to the university to know some elementary things on this subject. What I have affirmed may be true, but if we remain alone at that basic level of knowledge, will we understand the family as it truly is, or as each of us has experienced it? The personal experiences are important and enriching, but they alone are not enough to make known what the family really is.

We were born into a family, in most cases we were raised in a family; and when you reach a certain age, you most likely want to build your own family. The family is something fundamental for every human being; Is it enough to have vague notions about it? Is society aware of the need to go deeper into this important point?

Since childhood we have been taught that "the family is the fundamental cell of society". This concept is almost never questioned, but seeing the reality of our society would be worth asking if this definition is fully true and palpable, or if it belongs only to the world of dreams.

Allow, and present some definitions and ideas of what the family really is; this in order to set ideas that will be extremely necessary to understand and assimilate what I will explain later.

"In a broad sense, a family is defined as any community of people who live together and work to meet their needs and reach the common good in common. When this living together is focused on fatherhood and is ordered to protect the offspring we have the classic family type ... In the strictest sense today, the family is understood as the community of parents and children. "

"Family is the father, the mother and the children who live under the same roof."

In these three definitions we can see almost all the teachings that we have received in the school related to what the family is. Everything sounds beautiful, but besides that, the family should be the institution where every person is filled with good habits, human values, thoughts of love. But unfortunately, on many occasions this does not happen. Many overly violent people have learned to be like that in their own families; many thieves have learned to steal in their own families; Many girls have prostituted themselves for following the example of their families. Is this a family? Has society understood what it means to be part of a family? I do not think so.

But not everything is negative; I know families that, although they have probably never read what the family institution should be, they fully live up to all their demands, thus forming the men who bring forward a society, a country or the whole world if the case. It is only a question of promoting more values in our families.
