Nobody likes that empty feeling. Be more on the blockchain.
In modern food science, where both the food and the consumer are victims, there is a term for the devious and vacuous nature of capitalist food models. It’s called vanishing caloric density. “If something melts down quickly, your brain thinks that there’s no calories in it . . . and you can just keep eating it forever.”
So many times we are deceived into desiring things that are in fact empty and harmful. The spell of hype is all over in the world. It powers our emotive social life and media networks. It fuels our twisted patriotism and our military networks, even though they are ultimately destructive and a scourge on productive and constructive society. Brands and fashion trends roar ahead then screech to a halt, such as the impending collapse of the “Supreme” brand, now that master oligarchs and war profiteers the Carlyle Group have taken a 50% stake in the company. All around the world we are duped over and over again by crazes and empty promises without knowing the profligate personas behind them.
So where does STEEM fit in? Where does crypto and the blockchain fit in? Well the blockchain is here to stay, we are on the cusp of the next era. Exactly where STEEM and crypto fit in is a larger and more difficult question. STEEM was seemingly on the verge of big things, but now, as always happens to social media sites, it needs to reassess its position. What is the brand for STEEM? What is its mission? Does it have any core values or is it just blowing in the wind? For me, the only reason now that STEEM is moving ahead still is a belief in a better, decentralized way to organize the world and a social media that rewards participants, and hopefully participants with some sense of why decentralization is important and authentic.
Hopefully we can all embrace that decentralized purpose. Let’s not be empty calories around here. Let’s prove that we are more than the empty and corrupted shells that the centralized monopolies have become. Let’s not be extractive, let’s be productive and on the cusp of great things once again.
