Introduction

Imagine yourself living in the world where you have to avoid animals and rain. Imagine yourself that there is no one you can really trust in this world... This world exists and you can experience it by watching The Rain on Netflix. Be aware of possible spoilers!

Plot

Due to rain-carried virus, the world as we know it has come to its end. Six years later, two Danish siblings have to leave the bunker where they have been staying because they don't have enough food to stay there any longer. When they discover that civilization is gone, they decided to head to the next bunker. Due to some events they have to join group of survivors. Main characters think that society in post-apocalyptic world works in different way, but it turns out that there is still place for love, jealousy and the other things like that which I cannot understand.

Characters

There are seven main characters and one bad main character. Simone and Rasmus are siblings who join the group of survivors: Martin, Patrick, Lea, Beatrice and Jean.

Simone is the girl who is forced to taking care of her younger brother Rasmus.
Rasmus is the guy who is "the key".
Martin used to be a guard of quarantine zone before he became a survivor.
Patrick is the first person who joined Martin, he used to be a pothead before the rain.
Lea is the person who strongly believes in god, she lost her mother when the rain fall down.
Beatrice is my favorite character, to be honest. Her parents were taking divorce and they were fighting when she went to the movies. She got few messages from her dying father. Both of her parents died during the rain.
Jean is the stereotypical nerd. You know it when you see him for the first time because he has glasses and seems to be clumsy.

Locations

There are many locations showed in the show. From the woods and bunkers through villages and cities to more detailed places like abandoned Burger King, hospital or headquarters of Apollon. I like the fact that all of locations have a lot of small details, they are the reason why you can get into this series while watching it during night.

Music

I also love the music. It is not an unusual soundtrack... I would even say that it is pretty predictable, but it fits great the show. People responsible for it have done really great job.

Spoilers In This Paragraph Because I Am Still Really Mad

What I hate the most about The Rain is that they decided to kill my favorite character - Beatrice. My attention kinda dropped when they did it... Especially that they put that scene in which Beatrice is teaching Rasmus how to dance when suddenly drop of water from the rain drops on Beatrice's face. She starts freaking out and says that she doesn't want to die. Rasmus says that they will at least die together and kisses her. Guess what! She dies because Rasmus is contagious... Screw you, Rasmus! Beatrice is dead and Rasmus is alive... How rude!

Summary

I have no clue why The Rain has so low ratings on so called "popular websites about movies and TV series". Characters are great, plot is quite unusual because you do not often can watch something about rain which kills people and it is really nice to watch it because Denmark is much fresher place for apocalypse than the USA. I can even tell that I enjoyed it much more than The Walking Dead (which is boring and never wants to end). You definitely should give it a shot.

Final Grade: 8/10
