The Third Industrial Revolution: A Radical New Sharing Economy

garbage surfer.jpg

This 21st century smart digital infrastructure is giving rise to a radical new sharing economy that is transforming the way we manage, power and move economic life. But with climate change now ravaging the planet, it needs to happen fast. Change of this magnitude requires political will and a profound ideological shift

We're on the brink of extinction. It's business as usual with a maybe ever so slight "green" initiative and "carbon credit" tax credit. The reality is abysmal. What do we do?

We Need to structure a new Economy.

The resource distribution is out of wack.

The 42 richest dudes wealth and resources, equals that of the poorest 3.5 Billion humans. That's not right. That's not good at all. Half the planet of humans is doing worse than they were doing hundreds of years ago. Half the humans are doing better. All the animal and insect species are doing worse.

We're are really close to a mass extinction. It's not getting a lot of attention. Not a "popular" story. It's a somber reality.

  • "What's this about a Sharing Economy?"

The global economy is in crisis. The exponential exhaustion of natural resources, declining productivity, slow growth, rising unemployment, and steep inequality, forces us to rethink our economic models. Where do we go from here? In this feature-length documentary, social and economic theorist Jeremy Rifkin lays out a road map to usher in a new economic system.

Yea, sharing economy model is a great concept and an answer to adjust the wealth distribution fairly.

I have 2 business that has been operating for more than a year now on sharing economic concept. We all contribute resources regularly and rakes the profits in proportional distributions. It wasn't much, but it can cater for bills.

Thanks @worldclassplayer

Cheeeers!

Oh wow, that header photo is a very powerful image.

This is a difficult one to crack. People can’t see beyoundvthe immediate future and if they have to give up something today to allow their children to have a better life in 50 years they usually don’t! It’s finding that incentive to make it a no brainier that’s difficult.

Third Industrial Revolution, need to agree with you sir about wealth distribution among the rich and poor, awesome stats, thanks a lot for sharing with us.

Another great post.

Definitely, we need a new way of doing things. Continual economic growth is not a sustainable future. However, I am a little pessimistic, I think we will colonise other planets before we change our economy (barring some huge technological innovation).

we're at a point of open sourcing....from closed market monoplies to open source networking internet protocols...we're in the internet of things...and it's really just a matter of optimizing efficiency...we optimize efficiency by insuring we have very good distribution....what that means is that we have good decentralized exchanges in compliment to centralized networks...it's harmonizing the best of both worlds.

might have over simplified a little bit....but essentially its all about smart contracts....from energy to transport to communication...networking all the layers together as a platform as the internet of things here.

Recognizing that it's not about just having mega corps....but it's about distribution...and it's easier to have wide spread distribution in many instances...with many micro scaled networks...kind of meshed together.

all about aggregate efficiency...and thus effectively distributing....hence the third industrial revolution is called the "sharing economy"...digital age of "smart contracts"...smart everything...no more dumbass ways of business. We creatively collaborate in a combination of ways which includes....public/private/social...trifecta of interoperability.

Thanks for your comment - enjoyed going into things a bit here - definitely inspired to dig deeper into writing and research reporting these topics.

Exciting times.

Steem On!

Yes, I think that there is a lot of potential gains to be found in increasing efficiency. We waste a great deal of resources for no gain. Crypto and the way it can potentially aid the development of technology that will need trustless and decentralised computing/verification/identification will be a central part (I hope) of this revolution.

Like you said, a mix of centralisation and decentralisation is ideal. Effective decentralisation is really in it's infancy at the moment. Interesting times ahead!

This is a serious one and a very enlightening topic. The world is collapsing. I pray we don't destroy this world, extinction is happening to animals, human tribes and soon the entire human at large leaving this Earth empty.
The 42 richest dudes wealth and resources, equals that of the poorest 3.5 Billion humans, this might be so true. The government are making matters worse. I stay in the city of Lagos, Nigeria. The government have started demolishing houses and stores making the store owners and the landlords jobless and the tenants homeless with results to them going back to their village.

thank you for your comments.

There;s many issues to address.

I think we must work with governments in some instances. I think governments will be smaller in the future....and more effective than they have been currently.. Yes there's often much corruption within government...just as there is corruption in the private sector,

I think your area is positioned well for the future....there is some tough challenging times right now....but with regards to supporting the new infrastructure for the digital world....it will be quicker to implement in Nigeria...than it will be in for example canda....because Canada fro example will have to remove all these old systems that no longer will be used with these new technologies. Nigeria and many other developing parts of the world...will become global leaders...as these areas will leap frog the old technology. This in combination with the importance of distributed networks...where you have many small players working together to form a big communal network.

I think there is indeed great potential. We are definitely at an interesting point in history. We're going to have to do a bunch of work to organize the best shape of things here. It's going to be kind of fun I think :)

Cool to connect with you!

Jeremy Rifkin had given such a great global solution🙂and potential future of humanities economic infrastructure as a whole. For us it’s inspiring and empowering people who are ready for change.
