EOS - state of the launch - Arbitration!

in #eos6 years ago

Are you bored and annoyed by the constant delay of the EOS mainnet launch, like are many? The launch might be tomorrow 13 UTC as @aclarkuk82 reported in detail, maybe take another 24-48 hours. We'll see....

Yet whereas everyones attention is on the technical launch, there has been tremendous progress in governance: The EOS Core Arbitration Forum (ECAF) has formed and 4 interim arbitrators have been appointed.

EOS - state of the launch - Arbitration!

Since a few days now, the ECAF has now setup a website where you can already submit a claim:
https://eoscorearbitration.io/

The first 4 interim Arbitrators have been announced:

https://forums.eosgo.io/discussion/1174/1st-set-of-ecaf-interim-arbitrators-named
These are:
William Bozarth (USA)
John Chamberlain (Thailand, expat)
Michael Kimani (Kenya)
Sam Sapoznick (USA)
This selection swiftly sparked some criticism in the governance telegram for the process of selection, and if the arbitrators met the requirements set in the nomination form. The other point was the local concentration of arbitrators, who nearly all come from the US, or England respectively.
My guess is, for the interim phase that might be okay, but for full arbitrators the community the process must be more transparent. In addition a lot of practical terms need to be cleared, with arbitrators payment included (interim arbitrators will act as volunteers)

But there are more news ahead:

Last minute change of article 9 regarding the default arbitration forum

Thomas Cox has proposed to change the default arbitration back from the ICC to the ECAF:

He explains his reasons in detail here:
https://forums.eosgo.io/discussion/1189/the-case-for-reverting-article-ix-9/
To sum it up, with the ECAF being established, the urgent need to revert to an institution external to the blockchain, and possibly overruling community decision, isnt necessary and maybe even harmful. ICC arbitration could also turn out to be quite expensive.
@champagnecrypto that might be just the news you wanted to hear...

This last minute change is also a bit odd, given the hard push b1 has given the community to agree upon a default constitution themselves... Now b1 more or less forces a last minute change of the constitution to meet their vision. Not exactly what i'd call community driven.....and it seems to give the bp an extra hard time for the launch.

What do you think of these recent developments in EOS abritration?

Wahou! Thank you so much for your research!
I am not bored at all about the delay, once it will be launch, eos will not be there for 1 or 2 years but for decades. One week, even one month, is not a problem for me. EOS is like a very complex swiss watch ;) The watch makers prefer to double check the watch is working perfectly before "launching" it in the public domain. Patience is the key, as you know, I'm part of those who thinks that EOS is going to be huge and very probably mass adopted!
Thanks against for the quality of the information you compile.
Gute Nacht,
Thierry

We both do sure agree on the potential of eos, but like I discussed wolle with @matthewwarn there is a community of experts at work here, and they didn't anticipate the necessary tests and audits after 1.0 code release, this is not a proof of real professionalism. Since the said they will launch within about 48h after the launch I assumed they had everything assessed already.

I see you're very responsive @tsto . I also checked your profile and noticed that we share many common intertests. Going to follow you closely :)

cheers, Piotr

Thank you Piotr, for your kind message.
Have a nice Sunday,
Thierry

just one question @tsto

why do you resteem so much? it's hard to find your own content

yours
Piotr

I nearly never write articles myself. My main goal is to compile information issued from trusted sources, from all the main actors of the eos ecosystem. It is very rare I will resteem an article from a non-eos actor (except for Conceptskip).
I do it because one on the main condition to apply as blockproducer was to post an introduction with 6 checkmarks criteria on Steemit! Why steemit, because it is immutable. So my blog is a kind of memory of this pre-launch and lauch period of EOS, with all what has been said by de different parties involved. The goal of my blog is also to allow people to better understand what is happening at an international level.
Thanks for your feedback, have a good evening,
Thierry

I love to see how responsive you are @tsto

big thx! :)

Love it, great update, we are moving forward and are just getting better and better.

I will be ‘watching’ the EOS BP GO / NO GO meeting in just over 3 hours and will report back if I hear the magic word........ no not thank you or abrabcadabora, I mean “GO”.

yep, I see my dear @conceptskip is still bullish on EOS :)

Im not very familiar with this project but I can value good and quality work so ... upvoted :)

Cheers, Piotr

If you are interested in crypto, you should definitely give this project a closer look. But anyway it will come to broad attention sooner or later...

I definetly will pay more attention to EOS, thx @conceptskip
