Seoul, Korea – JANUARY 13, 2018 -- Block.one, a leader in developing blockchain software solutions, made a series of announcements today at its Meetup for EOS.IO developers in Seoul, including the following:

  • The formation of EOS VC, Block.one’s program to deploy over 1 billion USD in partnership capital with leading venture capital firms to develop the EOS ecosystem. Developers and entrepreneurs can contact [email protected] for more information.
  • Richard Jung, former CEO of BTC Korea (a/k/a Bithumb), has joined Block.one to lead development of the EOS.IO community in Korea.
  • Everipedia, a blockchain based competitor to Wikipedia led by Sam Kazemian and Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger, will be developed exclusively on the EOS platform and will be airdropping its tokens exclusively on the EOS blockchain distribution list.

“Block.one is making a formal commitment to deploy over $1 billion through leading global venture capital firms to deploy capital back to entrepreneurs to create innovation in the EOS ecosystem,” said Brendan Blumer, CEO of Block.one. “This scale of investment for EOS VC is unprecedented for blockchain technology and the Block.one team is excited to be backing developers from around the world who are creating the next generation internet organizations.”

The meetup in Seoul took place at Le Meridien Hotel and was attended by over 700 members of the blockchain software development community.

ABOUT EOS.IO
Published by block.one, the EOS.IO software introduces a new Blockchain architecture designed to enable vertical and horizontal scaling of decentralized applications. This is achieved by creating an operating system-like construct upon which applications can be built. The software provides accounts, authentication, databases, asynchronous communication and the scheduling of applications across hundreds of CPU cores or clusters. The resulting technology is a Blockchain architecture that scales to millions of transactions per second, eliminates user fees, and allows for quick and easy deployment of decentralized applications. The EOS.IO GitHub repository is available here: https://github.com/EOSIO/eos . For more information, please visit the EOS.IO website and resources page: https://eos.io/ .

Exciting times! Really looking forward to the launch of Eos, and seeing everything that will be made possible

Great announcements. I'm sure people are curious about "will be airdropping its tokens exclusively on the EOS blockchain distribution list" --> is this list from currently registered ERC-20 token holders, or the future and formally "accepted" EOS blockchain?

Yes, indeed! When will this airdrop take place and do I need to move my EOS tokens from the DEX to an Ethereum wallet?

As @ceedeez stated, you'll definitely want to get your EOS tokens off of the DEX (guessing you have open.EOS which is an OpenLedger issued asset). While O/L is a huge part of the Bitshares ecosystem, I wouldn't count on them to handle anything for you. If you are trading, sure you can leave them on DEX or other exchange, but if you are simply holding, get them into a registered Ethereum wallet.

For sure you need to have them in a wallet rather than in on an exchange. The outstanding question is whether the etc-20 EOS tokens need to be registered before airdrop or whether one can still claim after date of airdrop.

Great news. I'm holding EOS for the long-term as I think it has the potential to be something really great. Congratulations and keep up the outstanding work. I heard Brock say in an interview that he thinks there will be 1,000 enterprises up and running when the platform goes live so I'm excited to see what happens.

Waw. .📣

Everipedia, a blockchain based competitor to Wikipedia led by Sam Kazemian and Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger, will be developed exclusively on the EOS platform and will be airdropping its tokens exclusively on the EOS blockchain distribution list.

Is there a minimum contribution amount to be able to qualify for the Airdrop(s)? Mine has been registered already but not sure if my contribution amount is enough to qualify for this. TY!

Getting ready to boost my IQ as a Link Editor on Everipedia. See you all on the other side of knowledge!

Can’t wait to develop on EOS! I’ll be both developing dapps and funding third party dapps as a venture capitalist. The idea of deployment without having to worry about servers is incredible! 😆

Redefining the technology and the fundraising model in this space - never expected anything less. Go EOS!

I love this project, in my opinion has no opponent ... EOS for a lifetime

Wow. That's fantastic news for blockchain technology.

Milestones are rolling ...
