Attending the EOS S.E.A First Meetup in Singapore 11 May 2018
Out of curiosity, I attended, with a friend, the EOS Southeast Asia First ever meet-up held at Suntec City, Singapore. More details of the event here
Admittedly, we are no blockchain experts and we thought we could learn something from this event. The event started on time at 6pm with a short introduction to what EOS is and the state of the ICO since last June. There were many mentions of @dan Larimer and how he is building EOS with his experience from creating Steem/Steemit and Bitshares. With the mainnet scheduled for launch in June this year, everyone seems so super excited about everything.
After the introduction, it was followed by a panel discussion with EOS Block Producer candidates, including Ross Dold from @eosphere, Kevin Rose from @eosnewyork, and 3 others from different companies. But to tell the truth, we have no idea who they are nor what a BP does.
Each of them gave some introduction of what they do and what they aim to achieve in the next few months. Again, everyone seems so super excited.
It was fun listening to the panel and we learnt that EOS has a solid technology, with a talented team behind it and is attracting lots of interest from companies and communities to create an application ecosystem. The hype looks to be somewhat real and we could really expect big things coming out from it.
We didn't stay till the end and had to leave by 7.30pm. Gotta hit our ramen shop before the queue starts building up, we been talking about this ramen for days.
Overall, we did not takeaway much from this event, the free beer was nice though. It was still encouraging to see a nice turnout of some 100 people. I believe most of them are tech guys, developers maybe? We will need to attend more of these blockchain and crypto seminars and keep up with the boys.
Guess it is time to start reading the EOS whitepaper now. And this post by @julianhosp was a good read too.
Woah, that's must be a lot of fun there :D
EOS had a real potential in the crypto markets to make a killing. Upvoted!
