It LIVES! EOS Mainnet goes Live

Finally, after a few days of waiting, the 15% (or 150 million) threshold of votes have come in to enable the EOS mainnet to go live.

After a year long ICO that raised $4 Billion and a software that was not launched by the parent company, we have an active a living, breathing EOS blockchain.

This happened after a roughly a week of deliberation and testing by block producer candidates from all around the world. While that testing phase uncovered several vulnerabilities that caused two groups to go head-to-head on the correct implementation and delays for the launch, on June 9, block producer candidates voted unanimously in favor of launching the blockchain.

Some security concerns around private keys and confusion and difficulty in being able to vote were the main reasons the voting process took longer than expected. Now to see whether there will be just one blockchain or whether someone will for the chain. And EOD hodlers can expect the airdrops to start flowing once that initial EOS snapshot is taken.
