Playing EOS Knights, The First Mobile EOS Game – November 2018

in #eosknights5 years ago (edited)

EOS Knights is a simple mobile game on the EOS Blockchain. Until now it has shown a great potential and the user base is constantly growing. At the moment It is the most played game on the EOS Blockchain.
I started playing the game at the end of August, almost from the very beginning when it was launched. More than two months has passed since I started playing the game. It has been exiciting to be a part of this new gaming environment, watch it develop in real time.

I like the idea od games on the blockchain. I think that they go very nice together and can be a huge thing for the crypto world. Mobile is even better. I heard about this game here, on Steemit and after checking it myself decided to give it a go.
At the moment the game has almost 3000 daily users.

Requirements

To start playing this game, you will need some EOS, at least 15. I personally staked around 40 EOS, but I think this maybe too much.

When I first started playing the game it was available only in chrome browser with installed Scatter extension. Being a mobile game, this was a little bit odd experience, since you have a mobile size screen placed on your web browser. But they now have updated it and it is available to play on mobile. Since then I only play it on mobile and I find it a much nicer experience.

To play it on mobile you will need MEET.ONE Wallet installed on your phone. There are some other options, but I find this one most practical one.

When starting the game, you need to make purchase of the tree characters fighting for you. The cost about 0.4 EOS. I’m not totally sure about this number, because I forgot, but approximately it’s about that value.

Gameplay

The game its self is an idle game, and once started it is playing until your characters are killed by the goblins. Then you need to press the rebirth button. This is the most important thing in the game. Pressing rebirth button on regular basis. I find it easy to play, and it doesn’t eat up your time.

After each round of fighting you get 3 materials. With them you can craft weapons and shields for your knights, increasing their parameters. Also, after killing certain number of goblins they level up.
As you make your knights stronger they fight longer, and with each round reach further field.
At the moment I have reached more than 600th floor, and I’m ranked around 400th place.

The ranking is changing all the time. The thing with the floors is as further you go, the better materials you get. Much better!
They have made a change in the required floor for material. Before the limits were something like 40, 90, 160 floors. Now they are 100, 200, 500 floors. So, if you want some really interesting materials you need to get to the 500th floor. To get there you can play the game a long time and make it, or the fast way is to invest in it, buy some materials and weapons.

Pets

Except the materials won by the knight, there are also pets. Pets gives the knight extra abilities, like health power etc. Pets are generated with magic water. Magic water is awarded when clicking the rebirth button for the knights. There are a lot of types of pets, and you can put in use only tree. Each for one knight. There is the option to send max of 4 pets on expedition. The expeditions last 8 to 12 hours and they bring back one material and some magic water. Magic water is used to upgrade the level of the weapons and the level of the knights.

The Market

Now the interesting part is the market. There is market for materials and for items. You can sell your materials and items here and earn EOS. Also, you can buy some materials and items to progress more quickly. The cheap materials are priced starting from 0.001 EOS, and the expressive one can go easy for 10 EOS.

What has happened in the last weeks is that the price of the materials kept falling, so they needed to do something about that. Just a week or two ago, they introduced an NPC that is buying a specific item. Users will need to craft the item with the specific parameters, and submit it, after what they get reward. The time for submit the item is 24 hours. The reward pool for the last submissions was 100 EOS, divided between all the users that managed to craft the item. On average around 3 to 4 EOS was rewarded per user.

No information on user balance

Another interesting part of this game is the earnings from selling and buying items and materials. The game shows the info about that how much is your income from selling, but doesn’t shows the purchases that you have made, and the cost of them. I for example at the moment have around 28 EOS in purchases and 24 in sales. Meaning my balance is -4 EOS now. Now I know that I have at leas 15 EOS worth of items, so I’m ok. The top users have sales and buys worth in hundreds of EOS. The most profitable users are about 80 EOS in positive.

@lukestokes saw the problem with no information on user’s actual balance, and he made a short script showing the user balance. He then shared it in the telegram group. So many thanks to him, for making this game more transparent.

Final words

Overall this games seems to be constantly expanding. A month ago the daily number of users was half than now. So new users are coming into the game. One of the most atractive feauture about it, is the mobile friendly enviroment. It is simple as well. Meaning it is going for a mass adoption. Where will this game be in a months from now or in one year time, remains to be seen. And I can only imagen what effect a bull run in crypto prices will have on the game.

All the best
