If you want to edit your old posts right now

You might've read that for a while now it's possible to edit your posts older than 7 days.

It is, but there are some catches though.

This new update has been implemented in blockchain version 0.19.10, which in the meantime has been updated to 0.19.11.

Not all witnesses run this version, and I'd say it is possible not enough will switch to this version on their main nodes soon, because they might be waiting for the Velocity hard fork which is set to happen on September 25th.

The other catch is most interfaces (Dapps) haven't been updated to handle this possibility, so Edit button/link is hidden for posts older than 7 days.

But what if you're anxious to update one of your older posts? It is possible you know... And it doesn't require any special skills.

I've just tested it this morning, I've installed the eSteem Surfer desktop application on my laptop because I knew for a while it is possible to edit older posts with it. The installation process is extremely simple, I don't even remember anything worth mentioning other than the "Next" button. :)

Once installation was completed, I ran the application, logged in with my Steem account, chose a 10-day old post, updated it, and in less than 10 seconds (probably less) it was done.

And since I like to double-check things, I had a look at the post on Steemit.com and it was updated.

There you go, it's as simple as that!
