LIPTON deserves some ad

Today is very cold, both in view and temperature. Don’t mind. There is a way I see things. There is no other word that describes the color of this day apart from a minus temperature.

This is the kind of weather that so easily besets a man unto easy laziness: the kind that makes the room a more attractive abode.

Hold on, just remembered something, the harmattan period is close. Just noticed that Microsoft Word highlighted the word Harmattan as incorrect, it’s time Africans build their systems. Story for another day.

I love harmattan for the coldness but I am not really a fan of the dryness , most especially the dustiness. I mean the dustiness sort of reminds everyone that we are close to sahara than other parts of the world as everywhere gets filled with that tiny sized dust particles that easily besets the faces of okada men. Let me get a picture of them for you in case you don’t know this brave bunch called Okada People.

Most of them ride like they are on a suicide mission. Funny thing is that they forget that, unlike them, you are not planning to die anytime soon.

What May Not Know

I just discovered the Ghanians bear the credits for that word “Harmattan”. It came from the twi word haramata. So funny how words get Anglicized, from haramata to harmattan. After all that, Microsoft forget to add it to their dictionary.

They reduced those vowels that easily besets African languages and replaced it with an ending n while removing the ending vowel that Africans can’t do without. I doubt if any Yoruba word end with a consonant. Yorubas exclaim a lot, I suppose that is the reason we can’t make a word without ending it with a vowel, there are more words ending in “a” that any other word, that is an imperfect conclusion but I should be closer to the truth. The reason for this is probably because the default Yoruba exclamation for trouble is “AH!” , apart from “Mo gbe!”, which translates to being doomed.

So, by the way, who are the twi people? According to Wikipedia (The Only Enclopedia , modern day adolescents have ever read), they are a subset of the Akan People that live in Southern And Central Ghana and I still don’t understand why they made up the word “Harmattan” for us for the whole of West Africa. I am jealous. I shouldn’t be but I am.

I have written enough this morning. Got to stop so I can create time to go back to sleep.
I am beginning to think that if COLD and SLEEP were humans, they would be natural lovers, the Love at Fore Sight kind of love.
