#architecturalphotography - Church of the Nativity of the virgin in Slavgorod.
Hi, my friends.
Small, but one of the oldest cities of Mogilev region is the city of Slavgorod. The first mention in the ancient chronicle - in 1136.
The architectural attractions of Slavgorod include the Church of the Nativity of the virgin with a separate three-tiered bell tower. The temple is located near the Castle hill.
The Church was built on the instructions of the Russian Prince Golitsin in 1791-1793. The design is a centric apse-free temple, crowned with an octagonal dome. The interior of the temple is decorated with paintings. Designed the Temple, a bright representative of classicism, Russian architect Nikolai Lvov - the author of the Neva gate of the Peter and Paul fortress, the main post office in St. Petersburg, the famous Gatchina Palace, Borisoglebskogo Cathedral in Torzhok, farmstead complexes in the Moscow and Novgorod regions.
The construction was supervised by an experienced master Bow Smith. All construction materials for the Temple were made on the spot, only iron was brought to the roof from Moscow. The best Moscow artists painted the Temple, the famous artist Vladimir Borovikov – the author of portraits of Paul1,Catherine 11, Maria Lopukhina, Derzhavin, Kurakin and other famous historical figures directed the painting.
