The New Dawn of Nostalgia Politics Sweeping the World.

I look at America and they voted in Donald because they were sick of the same old same old. He is gonna drain the swamp and make America great again. Great Again. Donald's main campaign focused on getting what WAS , important i stress was, America's largest industry , the steel and manufacturing sectors back in business and lower unemployment. These industries were at their peak from the end of world war II, peaking in the fifties and ending just after the Kennedy era. The American government are going back to way to achieve what they had all so long ago in the 50's and 60's. It's amazing how when we look back to the good old days we just think of the good times and the bad memories are shut out of our mind never to be thought of again. White America was thriving in the 50's and 60's but black America going through a real rough time only starting to see civil rights. Those times are not all they were cracked up to be. Also the steel industry as a whole is in steep decline and there are no jobs to get back. The thriving industries are the tech sector but the average white American metal worker is going to have a hard time transferring his skills to silicon valley.
Lets take another example of nostalgia politics. Great Britain voted to break away from the European Union and go out on their own again. They plan to have trade with the rest of the world with their Rule Britainnia and buckeneering attitude that belongs somewhere before the start of the century when Great Briatin did indeed rule great parts of the world.

But alot of this trade deals were forced back in the day when the royal navy pulled up with their guns and made the trade go through. They will find it much harder to get these deals in this day and age. I actually believe what they are doing is madness. The majority of the vote for Brexit was outside London, up the north where British people don't want to see immigrants coming into the country. That is fine in some respects but when you colonize half the world then you should be expecting an influx of people from that commonwealth country. It was interesting that an English cousin of mine whose father is my father's brother who was born in Ireland posted on social media

From whom may I ask? I know what she was getting at because she is racist. But not so long ago her father was an immigrant from Ireland who worked in the mines to raise her and her brothers. So she was voting to not let people like her dad into the country anymore. But the Irish are OK because we are white and speak English. I pulled her up on it by replying to the post asking her was her dad an immigrant. I got 50 likes by the way. She still hasn't spoken to me but I don't care really. So here is a second country that now want to go back to the good old days. The British are forgetting that most of the pakistani and Indian people came after the war and had children. Asian children but guess what. They are more British than my cousin. These people were born in England. You look at the German football team. Mesut Ozil, Mario Gotze, Ilker Gudjogan. All sons of Turkish immigrants. But they are more German than Wolfgang Krogmann. Mesut Ozil came out last month and said
When we win I am Germany but when we lose I am Turkish.

I live in a country that is finally being unshackled from the years of oppression be it from foreign powers or the Catholic Church. The change over the years is ridiculous. My father told me he was beaten by a priest for writing with his left hand. So he had to learn to write with his right hand. Mr Ryan from across the road who lived abroad for a few years used to hang these funny balloons on his washing line. I found out a few years later that condoms were illegal in Ireland up to the early 90's. Poor Mrs Ryan must of been red raw! With the child abuse scandals breaking in the 90's Ireland had enough and we turned our back on the church. With this has come a new dawn of this country over the past 20 years and we are finally free. The country seen an in flux of foreign nationals during it's boom and many have settled into our culture(They like a few pints). The Irish are ignorantly racist. This sounds like a bad thing but sometimes it has me in knots laughing in pubs and at family functions. The first time my dad saw a black man was when he was 26 and at the moment there are around 5 black people living in my hometown. I know their names. Whenever my dad meets one of the lucky 5 , he always talks about Les Ferdinand and John Barnes, two black English footballers. He has known these guys now for years and thats still all he ever talks about.
Dad your gonna have to throw in a few white footballers as well. That guy is too young for John Barnes. The company next to us has two Kevins. Black Kevin and White Kevin . Black Kevin gets called Kevin B over the speaker. He doesn't mind a bit but I think its bordering on the line. But the most ignorantly racist thing we do is go out of our way trying to be not racist.
I'm gonna go over there and talk to Nathan so everyone one can see I'm not a racist and I am a man of the world.
When I was at the Euro's a black man was crossing the road going to work minding his own business. The Irish fans picked him up and started singing about a black footballer who played for Liverpool at the time that was called Kolo Toure. The footballers brother plays for Man city. His name is Yaya Toure. The guy thought it was great fun. Only the Irish could get away with it.

Ireland were the first country to vote gay marriage into our constitution. Our prime minister (Taoiseach) is a gay man and the son of Indian immigrants.

If I was to tell an Irish man that 20 years ago, they would laugh in my face. That's why I like living here because we are moving forward and not being nostalgic because we can remember the bad times more than the good times and the country is an dam sight better now than it ever was.
