Mr. Obaro had wondered why life had been so unfair to him. He was not a poor man neither was he born poor but he had lost everything when he was working with a construction company. He was looking for an investment and had fallen victim to them. There was nothing else he could do. He lost his business, job and could not afford to pay his house rent in Lagos. And worse still, they had to move back to the village. Osagie was just two years old when all these happened. And coming back to the village in Benin was a big regret. No one offered a helping hand to salvage his situation. Many of whom he had helped while the going was good for him and who had turned his home into a solution ground all turned their back against him. No one came to welcome him or visited him twice, the news of his misfortune had got to the village before him. This was how he fell back to farming and at that it was not easy. The only thing that the extended family provided for him was the meagre land which he had been farming on for the past four years till date. And in this trying time, Sube their daughter was born. And the family cautioned him for bringing a child into the world to suffer in the condition that he was in. They reminded him of his situation and he had given them a reason for this but he took consolation in the fact that God would take care of his own children.

Ayo met Osagie at the backyard when he came to see him, he had brought some books with him to Osagie's house. "Hello", said Ayo to his friend. "Hi", replied Osagie as Ayo had taught him. "How are you today?",Ayo asked "Fine, thank you and you?

"I am doing fine",he replied and sat down. He showed him the books that he had brought for him. Osagie looked at the books. The smile that lit his face could power a whole house. This was the happy satisfaction that always gave joy to Ayo. It showed the eagerness and the thirst that Osagie had for education. "What books are these?, Osagie asked. "This one is called civic education while the other is social studies", said Osagie pointing to show the difference. Osagie looked at them both. They were colourfully designed.

"Now that you can read and write, I feel we should take a step further in our study",said Ayo.
"What is the book about?, asked Osagie. "Social Studies is the study about humans and the relationship between them and their environment", said Stop pointing to the book and opening it. Osagie spent some time looking at the text book before finally closing it. He pointed to the other book, civic education. Ayo picked up the book and said: "This book tells us about the rules and regulations of our nation. It also tells us about our duties and responsibilities as citizens".

"This one seems to be more difficult to understand ", said Osagie. "If I can understand it, then you can also do the same. Nothing is difficult to understand if you have put your interest in it". "well, thank you very much. You are indeed a true friend. I will go and read the books and what I don't understand, I will let you know" said Osagie showing his appreciation for the kind gesture. Ayo stood up and shook hands and left for home..
