Poem - Breaking Free

"Breaking Free"

Breaking free from his chains
He saw a world full colors
Away from the encroaching darkness
He saw a world of light

Running towards the sun
He felt its loving warmth
Inhaling the fresh air
The dark clouds scattered

So this is freedom--
This is what's outside the shell
This lovely feeling
He wishes not to let go

To wonder at the blue sky
The see the wide oceans
To wish upon the stars
And experience the world

Going back to the darkness
No longer crosses his mind
He can no longer go back
To the cold and empty shell
