Lhokseumawe adalah sebuah kota yang terletak di Provinsi Aceh dan berada di pesisir pantai selat Malaka. Kota yang terletak di sebelah utara ujung Pulau Sumatera ini dulunya terkenal sebagai kota petro dolar ketika beberapa proyek vital masih aktif beroperasi di daerah Aceh Utara.

Lhokseumawe is a city which located in Aceh Province and on the coast of the Malacca Strait. The city, which is located on the north of the island of Sumatra, was once known as the city of Petro Dollar when several vital projects were still actively operating in the North Aceh area.

Saya ingat sekali ketika saya masih remaja dulu hingar bingar kota Lhokseumawe begitu terlihat dengan banyaknya pendatang dari luar daerah yang bekerja di proyek-proyek vital. Sayangnya para penduduk lokal hanya bisa menonton saja tanpa bisa menikmati manisnya dolar yang dihasilkan dari bumi Aceh Utara.

I remember that when I was a teenager, the noisy city of Lhokseumawe was so visible with the large number of migrants from outside the area that working in vital projects. .Unfortunately the local people just only watch it without being able to enjoy the sweetness of the dollars produced by the land of North Aceh.

Kini hasil bumi gas alam telahi habis dan para pendatang telah kembali ke daerahnya masing-masing dengan membawa sekarung uang dollarnya. Lhokseumawe tidaklah seramai dan seindah dulu. Namun kehidupan harus terus berjalan. Kota ini tetap melanjutkan kehidupannya. Lhokseumawe akan terlihat ramai pada jam sibuk yaitu ketika para siswa pergi dan pulang sekolah.
