Freewrite Day 598 Batter

Canva has three photo themes for the word batter. The first is about baking, and that is the most prevalent. I just did a post on my food blog though, and need to get one here, so I am not going to talk about baking.

I am a pretty good baker and I like to do it, but I have no oven here, so I feel like that is not my topic now.

The second photo theme on Canva is about battered women, and you can see some sad photos of that interspersed with the baking.

Not. Going. There. Today.

Finally we get to baseball – a topic I have little knowledge of or interest in. One of my employers gave out free ticket to games, and I went a few times. But nothing really happens until it does and then I miss it since I am looking elsewhere or deep in thought. Then the replay is on big TVs a few times, so you did not need to be looking anyway.

When we lived in San Diego and my son was in kindergarten, the Padres team got to the end of the season in a high rank and this was very exciting to people.

One day as we were driving home from school my son asked me, “Mom, do you know the Padres are winning?” I said yes, and then he asked. “Do you know what is a Padre?”

So I felt like a failure of a mom and turned on a game. We went through a couple of innings and I explained things as best as I could. With drawings!

After a some time of this, my son said, “How long does this go on?” I said we were in the second inning and there were a total of nine.

“Please, mom, I have had enough already.”

So that was the end of baseball for both of us.
