Suicide bombs in Kabul

At least 36 people, including 10 journalists, were killed in suicide bomb attacks in Afghanistan's capital Kabul on Monday. Four officers of the police were killed in addition to journalists. The international terrorist organization Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the horrific attack. This is the worst attack in Afghanistan on the media after the fall of the Taliban in 2001.

The first explosion took place at the headquarters of Kabul's Afghan intelligence office sometime before 8am local time. Suicide bombers attack a motorcycle and flutter themselves.

Kabul police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai said that a second explosion occurred just minutes after the first blast. Immediately after the first explosion, the mass media workers and police members gathered at the scene. Then the second attack was run. He said, 'The attacker came in the disguise of journalist. Confirming the fact that 29 people were killed in the two-point attack, the Interior Ministry said that 49 people were injured in the attack. As a result, the number of deaths is expected to increase further.

However, the Guardian reported that 36 suicide victims, including 10 journalists, were killed in a suicide attack in Kabul.

AFP reported that the attack was carried out in Kabul by the news agency's chief photographer Shah Marai. Besides, the BBC reported that Ahmed Shah, a journalist killed in a separate attack in Khost region of Afghanistan, was killed.
