World Environment Day - Clean and Green is the Most Beautiful Dream We Have !!!

Today, June 5, is celebrated as World Environment Day. Each year, this agenda is always commemorated in various parts of the world. Initially, the proposal for a World Environment Day was proposed by Japan and Senegal in the Stockholm Conference, which was the first UN conference on the human environment in 1972. The conference took place in Stockholm, Sweden, from 5-16 June 1972. Finally, the final decision of the Stockholm Conference , one of which agreed on the adoption of 5 June, which is the date of the opening of the conference, as World Environment Day.

World Environment Day is an important instrument used by the United Nations (UN) to raise awareness about the environment and encourage political attention and action at the world level. This anniversary is seen as an opportunity for everyone to be part of a global action in voicing protection against the planet, sustainable use of natural resources, and eco-friendly lifestyles. World Environment Day is more official and commemorated by communities and governments around the world. The second purpose of the commemoration of the day is the same that is to arouse the concern of people and society in the environment that tends to be more damaged.

Particularly in Indonesia, in addition to environmental related activities, every June 5 is also celebrated with the launch of a new pranko under the theme of the Environment. according to Law no. 23 of 1997, the environment is the unity of space with all things, power, circumstances, and living things, including human beings and their behavior, which affects the viability of life and the well-being of human beings and other living beings.

Climate change is a threat to human health on earth. Coinciding with World Environment Day 2018, I want to remind again what are the health problems that lurk if this one problem is not quickly overcome. Increased concentrations of greenhouse gases make temperatures increase, rainfall changes, increased frequency, occurrence of events related to extreme weather, and rising sea levels.

This condition is the impact of climate change that occurred on Earth. In addition to rising temperatures, food prices, unhealthy cycles, infrastructure damage, reduced water sources, disease outbreaks and disasters also increase. It is time for our way of life to change and it is time for all parties to take action and real efforts to deal with the emerging impacts and control climate change so as not to get worse.

The condition of the human environment which is pluralistic concerning the cultural, religious, social, intellectual and other environments affects human life. Humans interact with the natural environment and there is a relationship affect each other, humans along with the environment is an ecosystem. In the unity of the elements of the ecosystem then in other elements can not be separated. So we as beings who can not be separated from the Environment we are obliged to maintain and preserve our own living environment for generations to come.
