Lovely weather in Nongkhai, good for quiet reflection,อากาศดีมากที่หนองคาย เวลาที่ดีสำหรับคิดทบทวนชีวิต

On the train, I could see the sign of winter and dry season on the north-eastern part of Thailand. The trees are still green but the grasses are turning orange and brown.

The sky has become much clearer with intense blue colour. The morning air is light and crisp with the feeling of sharp breezes while traveling in tuk-tuk. This is a new cycle of time or season; farmers have started planting their winter crops of cabbages, tomatoes, chilis and sweet potatoes. I love this season as it gives me a pause to reflect on what has been happening to my life ths whole year. This is the time for inner reflection and preparation for the new cycle of life in the new year. We have less than sixty days till January 2019!

The clear blue sky by the river and the calm atmosphere are like morning vitamins to my brain. The trees along the road to my garden house are green and beautiful; these big trees give me a sense of stability on earth. This is a good time to start planting all the small saplings in my garden to replace those dead trees. So, I stopped at a garden nursery hidden in back street in Nongkhai. I would report on the plants at the nursery in another post.

The green colour contrasted nicely with blue sky. My brain slowed down and my mind started to relax; the peaceful vibes of natural surrounding made me feel very refreshed and full of energy. Life seemed to have added enthusiasm. The cats and kittens recognised my voice and started to come out of their hiding! Some started to complain loudly about life and food. The evening sunset was very beautiful and my walk has to be shortened as the mother cat followed me like a dog. The yoga lady arrived rather late for her yoga by the river; her two dogs were walking by her side. I had to carry the cat home to avoid the chase by those two dogs. Thus, a day passed by with simple things in life.

เราเริ่มเห็นความเปลี่ยนแปลงของทิวทัศน์ จากฤดูฝนไปสู่ฤดูหนาว ต้นไม้ยังเขียวขจีแต่ต้นหญ้าเริ่มแห้ง เปลี่ยนเป็นสีส้มและน้ำตาล ท้องฟ้าในฤดูหนาวมีสีฟ้าสดใส และไม่ค่อยมีเมฆ ทำให้ภาพที่เห็นยิ่งมีความเข้มและเด่นมาก นี่เป็นการเตือนให้เรารู้ว่าธรรมชาติกำลังเข้าสู่โหมดของการจำศีล ต้นไม้ป่าจะเริ่มเปลี่ยนสีและทิ้งใบสีน้ำตาล เวลาช่างผ่านไปเร็วมาก อีกไม่ถึงหกสิบวันก็จะเป็นปีใหม่แล้ว เราจึงพยายามลดความเร่งรีบ และหาเวลามานั่งทบทวนชีวิตในปีผ่านมา เพื่อการเตรียมตัวสู่โหมดชีวิตของปีใหม่

ลูกแมวก็โตเร็วมาก ความสัมพันธ์ของพวกแมวก็เปลี่ยนไป แม่แมวที่มาตัวแรกเริ่มกลายเป็นแมวป่าที่ชอบไปเที่ยว และหาอาหารกินตามธรรมชาติ มันจะกลับมาเมื่อมันได้ยินเสียงเราที่สวน และตอนนี้มันไม่ชอบครอบครัวของมันแล้ว เหมือนจะจำกลิ่นกันไม่ได้ ส่วนแม่แมวจิลลี่ที่มีลูกสามตัวนั้น ได้หายไปสองสัปดาห์แล้ว ตอนนี้เรามีแมวเหลือที่บ้านเพียงสี่ตัว คือป้าแมวเจ้าโรซี่ กับลูกแมวสามตัว

เดือนนี้ชาวบ้านเริ่มปลูกกะหลํ่าปลี มะเขือเทศและพริกกันแล้ว ที่นาก็เริ่มมีการเก็บเกี่ยวเกือบหมดแล้ว เขาจะคอยปลูกข้าวนาปลังในเดือนมกราคมกัน เราก็รอว่าเมื่อไรจะได้กินข้าวหลามที่ทำจากข้าวเหนียวใหม่ อากาศตอนนี้เริ่มหนาวแล้ว ตอนกลางวันเย็นสบายเหมือนอยู่ห้องแอร์ แต่ตอนกลางคืน อุณหภูมิลดลงมากกว่าสิบองศา นี่พึ่งเริ่มหน้าหนาว ต่อไปฤดูหนาวจะยาวนานและหนาวมากขึ้น เราคงต้องเริ่มเตรียมรับมือกับวงจรของยุคนํ้าแข็งแบบมินิที่ได้เริ่มขึ้นแล้ว นักวิชาการต่างชาติได้เตือนแล้วว่า อาหารการกินจะขาดแคลนและจะเกิดความอดอยาก การเพาะปลูกจะล่มสลายในหลายประเทศ เพราะอากาศที่เปลี่ยนไปมาก ทิศทางลมและกระแสน้ำในมหาสมุทรจะเปลี่ยนไป การเดินทางโดยเครื่องบินจะมีความเสี่ยงมากขึ้น เพราะกระแสลมในบรรยากาศชั้นสูงได้เปลี่ยนทิศทางแล้ว ในอนาคตความไม่แน่นอนของชีวิตจะทวีความเข้มข้นมากขึ้น เราก็หวังว่าทุกคนจะสามารถรับมือและมีความยืดหยุ่นในการปรับตัวมากขึ้น
