Sepia Saturday: Photos of recent river trip, รูปภาพริมแม่น้ำแบบซีดๆ

This is my entry for #sepiasaturday hosted by @old-guy-photos. Two weeks ago, it was extremely hot in Bangkok so I took a boat trip to visit an amulet market in the old quarter of Bangkok. But now I have escaped the heat and traffic jam of the city to Nongkhai where internet connection is very unpredictable and incredibly slow. So, my posting and commenting are almost impossible at times.

My boat trip took only twenty minutes from Sathorn Pier to Tha Chang Pier. But the scenery by the river reflected a stark contrast between the old Bangkok and the brave new modern Bangkok where people are rushing into 5G without any considerations except efficiency and speed. This happens at the delight of big companies and politicians who are ready to make lots of money from profits and corruption. There have been some similar predictions or prophecies circling around about a big flood that will engulf Bangkok one day. So, all the progress of material development would become wasteful eventyally. I hope that I will have already moved to my safe ground in the north-east.

This condo sits on the land which used to belong to one of my friends’ family. I used to cycle to that big house as a kid. There was a big gang of children playing there in the evening. This carefree lifestyle is no more in big cities where children are addicted to computer games.

สองสัปดาห์มี่ผ่านมา อากาศที่กรุงเทพฯร้อนสุดๆ ทำให้เราต้องไปนั่งเรือเล่น เรือออกจากท่าสาทรไปยังท่าช้าง เราคิดว่าต้องไปเที่ยวเล่นแหล่งที่ขายพระพุทธรูปเก่าๆ และหาข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับรูปปั้นที่คนได้ให้เรามาหลายปีแล้ว เพื่อนของเราบอกให้ลองไปเดินดูแถวท่าพระจันทร์ การเดินทางใช้เวลาประมาณ ยี่สิบนาที ลมแรงและคลื่นก็เกลียวใหญ่ คลื่นซัดกระทบเรือเป็นละอองนํ้าเล็กๆกระจายไป แลดูสวยดี แต่วิวข้างทางทำให้เห็น ความแตกต่างระหว่างเมืองเก่า และกรุงเทพที่ทันสมัย และกำลังเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างไม่หยุดยั้ง เราเห็นคอนโดที่ตั้งอยู่บนที่ของครอบครัวเพื่อนเก่าที่อยู่ริมแม่น้ำ เราเองเคยปั่นจักรยานไปเล่นกับเด็กแถวนั้นสมัยเป็นเด็กๆ ที่นั่นมีกลุ่มเด็กมาเล่นกันหลายสิบคนในตอนเย็น ชีวิตแบบเด็กๆอย่างนี้คงจะสูญหายไปในที่สุด เด็กสมัยนี้จะเล่นเกมส์คอมพิวเตอร์เป็นอย่างเดียว คนเมืองกำลังทะยานสู่ยุค 5G อย่างเร่งด่วน ทำให้นักธุรกิจ นายทุน และนักการเมือง เตรียมพร้อมในการทำกำไร และทำเงินจากงบประมาณและการคอรัปชั่น ผลกระทบในทางลบต่อสุขภาพถูกปกปิด คนส่วนใหญ่ไม่ค้นหาข้อมูล เพราะชอบประสิทธิภาพและความรวดเร็ว เราไปพบคำทำนายว่าในอนาคต จะมีนํ้าท่วมใหญ่มากลืนกินกรุงเทพฯ ฉะนั้นการพัฒนาและความเจริญทางวัตถุก็คงกบายเป็นอนิจจัง เราก็หวังว่าเราคงหนีมาอยู่ที่อีสานอย่างปลอดภัยแล้ว
