Awesome Map 1.7 Billion Stars in the Milky Way Galaxy.

The European Space Agency (ESA) released an amazing space map from the Milky Way. From the map, it was revealed there are at least 1.7 billion stars that illuminate the magnificence of our galaxy.

The most detailed map of the Milky Way was successfully conceived through the Gaia mission. For 22 months, Gaia satellites spent time to map the most detailed Milky Way maps ever made.

ESA assigns Gaia the task of categorizing position, distance indicator, and movement of more than one billion stars spread in the Milky Way. This mapping includes high-precision asteroid measurements.

"The observations collected by Gaia are redefining the foundations of astronomy," says Günther Hasinger, ESA Director of Science quoted from the Mirror, Wednesday (2/5/2018)

With the information gathered, researchers at ESA will learn a lot more about how stars move during their formation and life span, may reveal clues about galaxy formation.

"Gaia is an ambitious mission that depends on great human collaboration to understand the huge volume of data that is very complicated," he said.

"This demonstrates the long-term project needs to ensure progress in space science and technology and implements bolder scientific missions over the next few decades," Hasinger added.

The amount of information obtained Gaia not just kesadaa location of stars in the Milky Way, but also the data level of brightness of all stars. Gaia also observed objects in the Solar System that have more than 14 thousand asteroids.

"Gaia will greatly advance our understanding of the universe on all cosmic scales.Even in the Sun environment which is the region we think most understood, Gaia reveals new and exciting features," said Timo Prusti, project scientist for Gaia ESA.
