Grand Detour, Illinois
The John Deere Historic Site is in Grand Detour, Illinois. The museum is free, and you can tour the Deere home and visit the blacksmith shop where he invented of the first steel plow. It is a popular spot for school groups, history buffs and John Deer fans.
Just down the street from the museum is this wonderful old limestone church.
We had toured the museum in the past, and getting to the Lincoln Highway was our goal, so we enjoyed the quiet of the small town streets and then continued on our way.

a very beautiful photo, makes people want to have it.
I love the stone church very much! I wonder how cold a stone building can be? ;)
That limestone church is interesting @melinda010100. When we use limestone here it is most often smooth. I as surprised to see that more rustic look. 😊
