A hike through the verdant Calfeisen Valley in Switzerland’s Upper Valais has a highlight in the wood chalet-style church of St. Martin. Nestled deep in the gorge, St. Martin is thought to date back as far as the 14th century.
The tiny adjoining village often welcomes weary hikers between June and October, when the route is easiest for visitors to traverse.
