Benalmadena Pueblo

It is still quiet and peaceful here in the retirement town of Benalmadena. There is still not much traffic about – neither cars, nor people. This is the norm in Benalmadena. It is so quiet it is surreal. You hear only the ring-neck doves going coo-coo coo, coo-coo coo.... and swifts chirping, circling in the sky, hunting for food.

The holiday makers haven’t arrived yet. They would probably be arriving at the end of the month, or from July onwards when the school, and summer holidays begin. When that happens, you will see taxis and/or vehicles dropping people off at the apartments. There will be people checking in, and checking out at all times of the day. And you will see people lugging their beach umbrellas or beach chairs heading for the beach.

Now, it is still too cold for the beach anyway. Although, looking out of the window, I do see the occasional brave bare-chested pot-bellied man. An interesting bit of trivia for you. Spain has no nudity laws but it is common sense and common decency to wrap up your bits when you are in public, unless you are in the privacy of your own home.

Benalmadena Pueblo - Pueblo meaning small town or village. Looking out of my window, I can see a village nestled on the hillside. This is not uncommon, as Spain is very hilly and mountainous.

At night, when the village lights up, the shimmering lights in the distance is quite a sight to behold. This is better experienced in person as the photos do not do the scene justice.
