The Sanctuary: Chapter 9
Chapter 9
After escorting Dianne back to her dormitory, Dylan went back to the virtual world. He wanted to try the skills he recently developed.
After logging in he was sent back to the Arena area. But while he's walking towards the reception, he overheard a conversation between two guys.
"Hey, did you hear the rumor about, Dianne?" Asked Guy A.
"Which Dianne?" Guy B asked back.
"Of course I am referring to our school's ice goddess!" Guy A replied.
"Her? What rumor are you talking about?" Asked Guy B, his interest peaked.
"I heard she went in the school cafeteria earlier. What's more, she's with a guy!" Guy A answered with enthusiasm, as if he's reporting the biggest news ever.
"Whaaatttt?!?!?" Guy B exclaimed exageratedly. "How is that possible? That's definitely a lie!"
"Unfortunately, its true. I heard the rumor from my cousin's friend's brother's girlfriend. Also, there were a lot of people dining at the cafeteria when the two arrived!" Guy A explained, and even mentioned a hard to remember eye witness.
Dylan, sweated after hearing the duo's conversation. To his surprise, the news of him eating with Dianne at the school cafeteria already spread!
"It's fascinating hiw rumor could spread so quickly..." Dylan thought.
But as he was about to continue walking, he overheard them talked again.
"I heard, the two are actually on a date!" Guy A continued with his rumormongering.
Dylan almost tripped when he heard what Guy A said. "What the hell? How did a simple dinner in the school's cafeteria ends up being a date?!"
Dylan continued to listen, and the rumor was so exagerated that he almost vomit blood!
What do you mean her secrer lover that she was forced to hide because her family was against our relationship? What kind of cliche drama are you talking about? Also, we barely know each other, so how did I become her lover! And what the hell with that rumor that I'm an 8 foot guy full of muscles that intimidates everyone who saw me!
The more Dylan listened to this Guy A the more exagerated the rumor become. Dylan even wondered if his still talking about a person, and not some demon beast!
Dylan felt like he doesn't have enough brain cells to process this stupid rumor. So he.decided to ignore Guy A, and walked towards a receptionist. After completing his registration, Dylan was sent to the waiting room where he waited for his opponent.

Several minutes later, Dylan was teleported back to the waiting room. He had just won his third fight, and surprisingly easy at that too.
Dylan, in deep thought, exits the waiting room, and log out. After his third match, Dylan realized that he no longer have any opponent that could pose a.challenge in his current rank.
"My "Shadow Doppleganger" is just too strong for my current rank. I won't improve if this carry on. I guess it's time for me to move to a higher rank..." Dylan thought to himself after some deep contemplation. "I should take my D-rank promotion tomorrow night."
After deciding what to do, Dylan went to bed.
While Dylan decided to sleep, someone else just logged off from the virtual world. This person is none other than Dianne. Like Dylan, she too returned to the virtual world after having dinner, and had several matches. She fought five matches in total, and won them all.
"It seemed that my condition's quite good today," Dianne murmured as he walked towards the bathroom for a shower.
Half an hour later she went out of the bathroom with nothing but a tower covering her body. She then proceed to dry her hair, and put on her pajama.
"Dinner earlier's quite nice" Dianne said in a soft voice as she hugged a pillow. She thought that Dylan's an interesting guy. Unlike those who usually approaches her, he's not irritating at all. On the contrary, he's fun to converse with.
"He seemed quite skilled at interacting with women..." Dianne thought as she remembered the way he treated. "Those actions are very natural, and not forced? Could he be popular with girls?"
Dianne feel a bit sour in her heart after thinking of such. She then realized that she's acting weird, and was confused.
"What am I thinking?" Dianne asked herself before turning off the light.

The next morning...
Beep Beep Beep!
Dylan who's currently eating breakfast was interrupted by the ring of his school badge a.k.a messenger. He took out the badge, and saw the.message from fatty Jing reminding him not to be late for training!
Looking at the message, Dylan felt incredulous. Fatty Jing actually message him so early in the morning to remind him of training? Did the sun rise from the west today?
Shaking his head, Dylan simply replied with an "O.K" message of his own. He then resumed eating his breakfast in his leisure.
Several minutes later, he exit his room, and started walking towards the training ground.
