Sparrows are common name for a group of small grain-eating birds that spread in the tropical regions of the Old World and Australasia. These birds are now included in the Estrildidae tribe, although there are also those who consider this group to be a tribal child (Estrildinae), part of the wider Passeridae tribe. Previously, this group of birds was placed in the tribe of the manyar, the Ploceidae.

>Pipit adalah nama umum bagi sekelompok burung kecil pemakan biji-bijian yang menyebar di wilayah tropis Dunia Lama dan Australasia. Burung-burung ini sekarang dimasukkan ke dalam suku Estrildidae, meski ada juga yang menganggap kelompok ini adalah anak-suku (Estrildinae), bagian dari suku Passeridae yang lebih luas. Sebelumnya, kelompok burung ini ditempatkan dalam suku manyar-manyaran, Ploceidae.

The types of sparrows (including bondol and sparrow) are happy to be in groups, and are often seen moving and looking for food in large enough hordes. These birds have similar stature and habits, but the feather colors are quite varied. The smallest size is owned by Nesocharis shelleyi whose body length is about 8.3 cm (3.3 inches), although the lightest weight is Estrilda troglodytes (6 g). While the biggest is Javanese wrenching (Padda oryzivora), whose body length is 17 cm (6.7 inches) and weighs 25 g.

Most sparrows cannot stand cold climates and require warm habitats such as in the tropics. But there are also a small number of types that adapt to the cold environment in southern Australia. Pipit lay eggs 4-10 grains, white, which is stored in its nest in the form of grass balls.
