Greetings to everyone on this show tonight, greeting you tonight the same way i use to every wednesday on this show. A show that promote Culture on the STEEM BLOCKCHAIN. Today's show will be promoting the Yoruba Culture. PROVERBS is the topic for today.

The Yorubas sees proverbs as a word driver, they see it as something that can be used to backup their words so that the meaning of that word and the use will be understood by the person hearing it. The proverbs may sound very Funny sometimes when we listen to them but they are wise words, if only we understand their real meanings. Sometimes we use proverbs to hide the real word we actually want to say maybe to hide it from a non Yoruba person or for kids that have little understanding about proverbs.

Here are few Yoruba proverbs and how we use them:

• They say your child lacks wisdom and you say the most important thing is that the child shouldn't die, What kills more faster than lack of wisdom? - We use this proverb to let parents know their obligation on their children and make them see reason why their children should have wisdom.

• we don't put our legs into the river and run for the cold - We use this proverb to let a person know that he/she have to think deep before deciding on something because they may not be a chance for going back.

• We don't compete with each other for a chieftancy title and still show ourselves the king's house - We use this proverb to explain that we can't have one person as a friend and still have the same person as enemy, the person will rather be one of it.

• We don't cut a person's hair without informing the person - We use this proverb to explain how important it is for a person to attend a meeting or be in a gathering, because he/she is the main cast.

• We don't use sword to kill a Snail - We use this proverb to let people know that they should use what is expected of them in doing anything.

• We don't go to sleep when fire is on the roof - This proverb is use to let people attend to a problem on time before it goes out of hand.

• We don't use the head of a squad as a messenger - we use this proverb when we want to say that the leader should always be a leader and not a member.

• We don't show the throat the road to the stomach - We use this proverb to say that we don't teach a boss/expert what to do.

• We don't make a big statue and not give it something like a pillar to rest on - We use this proverb to let people know that one person cannot do something alone, everybody needs a helper.

• We don't judge based on the story from one person - we use this proverb to explain that we must not conclude or pass judgement upon hearing one side of a story.
